This was a little novella put out highlighting some great characters from the Chicagoland Vampire series.

Jeff is a shifter who works with Merit's grandfather as an unofficial liaison between the supes in Chicago and the police department. Fallon is a wolf shifter who is second in line to become leader of her pack. There is an indisputable chemistry and magic between these two. But because of old beliefs and history, Fallon cannot become leader of her pack one day if she mates with someone who is not a wolf. Jeff is a tiger shifter. So a parade of suitors are marched before Fallon because she needs to have a mate who can one day possibly help her lead the pack.

On the eve of a coronation for Fallon's nephew, who is to be welcomed into the pack, a precious artifact comes up missing. One that is magical and powerful enough for the pack to be taken over by another family. Something that Fallon and her brothers refuse to let happen. With only one real suspect, they must take him down and quick.

I really like this quick look into some of other favorite characters from this series. Also it's a testament to Chloe Neill on how great of a story teller she is, when I was completely involved in a story that would only be a few chapters in one of her full length novels. It's a good teaser until we're able to get to book 9 of this series in February.

  1. I read it recently and found it a bit fluffy, nice read though :)

    1. If it would have been about Merit, I'd agree but it's not a full length novel and it's not about the main character so I'm good with it.

  2. This sounds like fun, I really have to find the time to start this series.

  3. I enjoyed this, and I know the story would have been shorter if Fallon had of come to her senses earlier, but I felt like Jeff deserved someone to totally stand up for him right from the start instead of even giving the whole parade of wolves a chance. She came through in the end, though, so that's what matters. I can't wait until tomorrow for Wild Things!
