I don't know if it's just me but I really didn't realize that Elena was pregnant in this book. Amber I is basically obsessed with Clay, so I would've thought that she would have mentioned something but I never realized that she was.
Okay that was my big revelation.
Obviously it's a big deal though. Only female werewolf, having the only pure-blood werewolf baby, kinda important. Anyhow, she's cooped up at home because she's already a target for all the rogue wolves but being pregnant makes her even more of a target. So she's at home to stay safe, Clay and Jeremy are there too. But she has cabin fever, badly. When she gets a call for a super simple recovery job, Elena talks Clay and Jeremy into it quickly. Although they have reservations about taking this job, Elena convinces them that they should take it. I really think they felt guilty too and that's why they really ended up going.
Things aren't as cut and dry once they get to Toronto. They never are. A portal opens up and zombies come out. Yes, zombies. But Kelley's zombies are actually pretty awesome. I love the way she explains them and how they are made and function. Also, Elena seems way more pregnant than she's actually supposed to be. But since she's the only female werewolf, no one is really sure what's going to happen with her pregnancy. She's pretty bad ass even hugely pregnant though. She's kicking ass and running all around. Even if Clay and Jeremy are right on her heels.
I always love Kelley Armstrong and this series is no different. Even though this book focused solely on Elena and Clay and their pack, we get to see other characters as well. Jaime is there and we hear about Paige and Lucas. I wasn't a huge Clay fan in the other books I read, I liked him but he wasn't "great" to me. However, I really feel like this book might have brought me over to liking him more. I loved how protective but not too overbearing he is. He's really working hard to have a good balance and you can see the changes in him.
I think this is a great installment to the Women of the Otherworld series. If you haven't checked it out yet, definitely do. I can't wait to see who the next book is about and get further into these characters.
