At the tender age of 27, Merit became a sword-wielding vampire. Since then, she’s become the protector of her House, watched Chicago nearly burn to the ground, and seen her Master fall and rise. Now she’ll see her mettle—and her metal —tested like never before.

It started with two . . . Two rogues vanishing without a trace. Someone is targeting Chicago’s vampires, and anyone could be next. With their house in peril, Merit and her Master, the centuries old Ethan Sullivan, must race to stop the disappearances. But as they untangle a web of secret alliances and ancient evils, they realize their foe is more familiar, and more powerful, than they could have ever imagined.

I must say I enjoyed this book a lot more then the last one. The new story line is just exciting and new. And of coarse in the beginning of this book I was in love with the way Ethan was being all flirtatious and sweet to Merit. I thought they really needed that after everything. But of coarse that happy bubble can not last. Not only because of the house drama like they are separating from the GP and that mess but because a certain someone comes in and causes a lot of drama.

Merit has so much to deal with in this book. The troubles of separating from the GP without The House losing everything, trying to lead her double life as an RG member, trying to catch a serial killer before he kills anyone else and also that pesky person I mentioned above. With so much going on though something is going to slip and when it does do things get tense. Her loyalty is questioned and one of her relationships is put into jeopardy.

I won't lie there in the middle I wanted to scream my head off. There was this little part of the story I couldn't deal with. Luckily it was not dragged out or else it would have made this book hard to read. Its not fun but its over pretty fast, so when you get to this spot, hang in there it'll be over soon.

I am really excited with the progress House Rules has made to the series. It feels like we are moving towards something and maybe even coming to a close soon. I am hoping after this book Ethan and Merit will have everything together and not let little things come between them. House Rules was an action packed book with never a dull moment, and it had more romantic scenes then before (happy dance)! This book is definitely one for the Chicagoland Vampire fans to get their hands on.

A vampire with a past stained with blood and a soul tainted with darkness, he is perfect in his self-control, never surrendering to his darkest desires. Now a beautiful witch in the shadowy fae underworld threatens to reawaken long denied hungers and tempts him with carnal pleasure.

Payne despises the incubus side of his mixed genes and refuses to give it free rein, but when the wickedly sexy Elissa offers him a possible way to help a friend, he finds it difficult to resist paying the price, even if it will be his undoing—one night of passion at her command.

Elissa is a witch down on her luck until Payne comes crashing into her life. The dangerously handsome male is the key to fulfilling a promise she made, but he is also forbidden, and surrendering to the wildfire passion he stirs within her means risking ruin and death.

When one incredible night of fulfilling their deepest fantasies leads to more than just a pathway to keeping a promise and saving a friend, will they be able to overcome the barriers that stand between them and forever?

Every time I read a book in this series I always think okay this one is my favorite but each time a new books comes out again I say the same thing. So never trust me when I pick a favorite. I think I am more love the one your with, with this series.

Payne is another tortured hero. His past is full of darkness its hard to see any light in his future. But in walks this sexy as hell witch and well things get heated fast! They both need each other for different reasons and to get what they want they have to go through the same enemy. Also Payne has to face up to his incubus side and not just let the vampire in him be in control. Its a heart wrenching book as we explore Payne's past, but his present is damn HOT!

Bewitch is another explosively sexy read! Payne and Elissa steam up these pages! I loved their first sex scene because Elissa got very very Dom on Payne. I read quite a few Dom and Sub books but never one with the female in the lead. And I must say I LOVED it! Even though this isn't something neither of them really do it sure as the hell worked out great!

We don't see a lot of the theater this time around but that was okay with me. We did however visit an incubus den. But have no fear in the end we where back at the theater with all of our beloved characters. And there is one scene in Snow's bedroom that just warmed my heart (but it wasn't anything to do with Snow). I can't wait to get inside that mans head.

This series is a must if you are into paranormal books and you love some awesome crazy super hot hot hot sex!! Oh and a great story, but I am serious I love the sex scenes!!

#AADSAV Author Spotlight with Stella Price

Tuesday, January 29, 2013

Today we have an interview with Stella Price author and Director of AAD! Plus some info on a way you could win a chance to AAD for FREE!!!

  • Please Introduce yourself to our readers?
Hi *Waves* Im Stella Price, Author and Convention director for Authors After Dark.

  • Can you tell us a little about the world you've created?
We write in a few different ones, though right now we have our Eververse universe out that includes our Demon series, Dragons, Satyrs, weresnakes and witches, and the world of our Inferi Dii. While the Eververse is broad and encompasses a lot of information, the Inferi Dii world is much more specialized to the characters and tasks at hand.

  • What are you most excited about at AADSAV?
Seeing everyone again. I don’t get much time to hangout with everyone at the con, but just knowing old friends and new are there and having a good time is great for me.

  • Any authors you are excited to meet?
For me, I always feel like I know them already, even if we never met personally. Im excited to see friends again like Joey W. Hill and Melissa Schroeder, and talk in the flesh to Mary Janice Davidson and Caitlin Kitridge, all of whom I read and respect so highly.

  • Tell us about your latest release?
Something Darker is the first book in our Inferi Dii world and follows the adventures of Syrus, who is the god Osiris in the Egyptian pantheon, while he discovers his keeper, the woman that will give him back his powers and become the other part of his soul. He’s a god charged with keeping the world safe from the baddies and wouldn’t you know it, him finding his keeper sets of a chain of events that can’t be undone… its getting amazing reviews on Amazon and we are super excited the readers are digging it.

  • Any restaurants in Savannah you plan on hitting up? (I would love to know, I want some ideas for myself)
I love the Pirates House (and its literally 50 feet from the hotel). The food is faboo and the drinks are amazing. Tell them you want a RELEASE THE KRACKEN drink. You won’t regret it.

  • Are planning on dressing up for any of the balls?
Yep. I do every year. Not sure what I’m going to wear for the vamp ball, but my Elementals outfit is stunning lol.

Thank you so much Stella for joining us today! Can not wait for the convention!

About Something Darker

The one thing Syrus Alcot, the God of Death Osiris in the Egyptian Pantheon, wants in all the worlds is the woman he loved and lost returned to him. When he gave up his powers, and freedom for a life of service he was promised her return. That was over one thousand years ago. A member of a team of dark gods charged with keeping humanity safe, he leads a loveless existence in New York City, searching for the one thing that could bring his wife back to him, a lapis scarab that was lost to him ages before.

Gwen Stapleton, a mild mannered librarian, is unaware that she holds the key to not only Syrus’ happiness, but her own. Seemingly stuck in a hopeless relationship with a man she doesn’t love, she has no idea that a chance meeting in Alphabet City will start a landslide to her heart’s content. Because Gwen is the keeper of the scarab, and is everything Syrus has ever wanted… and hes not the only one.

An Ancient evil is waking, and its servants will stop at nothing to see it seize its rightful place as the new pantheon of earth. And in order for Syrus and his team to save the world, Gwen is going to have to accept him, and show that love does make all the difference.

Living in small town Rockabill, Maine, Jane True always knew she didn't quite fit in with so-called normal society. During her nightly, clandestine swim in the freezing winter ocean, a grisly find leads Jane to startling revelations about her heritage: she is only half-human.

Now, Jane must enter a world filled with supernatural creatures alternatively terrifying, beautiful, and deadly- all of which perfectly describe her new "friend," Ryu, a gorgeous and powerful vampire.

It is a world where nothing can be taken for granted: a dog can heal with a lick; spirits bag your groceries; and whatever you do, never-ever rub the genie's lamp.

Another amazing read recommended to me from Jennifer at The Book Nympho. She recommended this book and instead of reading what it was about I saw the cover and decided I was going to give it a go just off of that. And when I got to the pages inside this amazing cover I was hooked! I loved this book. I read it in one day. I loved the romance, the new world (its very unique), the sarcasm (seriously these characters are funny) and just the overall story. I am thinking this is more a 5 star then a 4 star now that I am thinking about it more There is really nothing I didn't like. Well maybe the set up for the possible love triangle. I know its coming, I can tell and I hate love triangles.

I won't get into the abouts of this book because its been out for a while and I am sure you can find that anywhere. So I will just tell you what I liked about it.
  •  Jane is just a bubble of mystery. We know something horrible happened in the past but we don't get the full of it until later.
  • She is an outcast in this little town and its so sad. Kinda like the underdog that I just have to see win.
  • The murder mystery kept me guessing. It was never an obvious solving.
  • The humor. Jane is hilarious, Ryu is hilarious and I just loved that!!
  • The sex! It was freaking HOT!
  • This whole unique world. You get a little of everything and I loved how the author pulled it all together.
  • I loved Jane's self talks. Her arguments with her logic and libido are hilarious. I mean it this girl is so funny! I love her.
  • I just don't want to give all of it away so go read it!!

This book has definitely got me wanting the next books asap. Its not that it leaves off on a cliffhanger its just that I am dying for more from this world. I am in love with this series now. I hope all the books get to me like this one has. If you are looking for something new and exciting, I am totally recommending Tempest Rising!

Because I just loved this quote in the book (along with a million others) I had to share it.

"Regulators, mount up," I muttered, channeling Warren G to fortify myself for our entrance into Rockabill Society.

I can't help it I had to highlight that once I saw it, I am a total 90s girl....

Cheerleader Isobel Lanley is horrified when she is paired with Varen Nethers for an English project. Cold and aloof, sardonic and sharp-tongued, Varen makes it clear that he'd rather not have anything to do with her, either. But soon Isobel finds herself making excuses to be with Varen. Steadily pulled away from her freinds and possessive boyfriend, Isobel ventures deeper and deeper into the dream world Varen has created through the pages of his notebook, a realm where the terrifying shories of Edgar Allan Poe come to life.
As her world begins to unravel around her, Isobel discovers that dreams, like words, hold more power than she ever imagned and that the most frightening realities are those of the mind. Can she save Varen from the madness taking hold of him? Or will they both be consumed by the shadows of his nightmares?

I had no idea what to expect when I picked up this book. I especially didn't know it had so much to do with Edgar Allen Poe, and even though I know who he is I am not all that familiar with his history or most of his stories but I now know I want to know more about him. I found just when they where studying about him really fascinating and I plan on doing some reading about him myself now. The way Kelly brings him out in the story just really captivates your attention.

I have been hit and miss with the YA world but this book totally got my attention. There was some high school drama mainly because Isobel the main character is a cheerleader and hung out with a certain click but when she is teamed up with Veren king of the goths her click and especially boyfriend are not too happy. That is where some of those pesky high school problems come in. But as annoying as they seem they really changed Isobel's character for the better.

This isn't a small book but yet I managed to read it in 3 sittings. The lore behind it was fascinating and the characters really drew you in. Its not a light read, you really need to pay attention. Kelly's writing style just has this poetic vibe is was very beautifully written. Its just not like a lot of books I have come across and I find myself thinking about it even when I am not reading it. I will definitely be checking out the next book, because of coarse this book leaves us off wanting more.

To some it up Nevermore is a dark, poetic read. Its very unique, the lore of Edgar Allen Poe is amazing and the characters where great. There was no any love at first site or anything. In fact the romance in this book is very very small but still had me totally engrossed. I am glad I picked this book up on a whim!

Includes a free bonus: a Kate Daniels novella, "Magic Gifts"
The "New York Times "bestselling Kate Daniels novels have been hailed as "top-notch urban fantasy" ("Monsters and Critics"). Now, Ilona Andrews delves deeper into Kate's world, and reveals its untold stories...
After being kicked out of the Order of the Knights of Merciful Aid, Andrea's whole existence is in shambles. She tries to put herself back together by working for Cutting Edge, a small investigative firm owned by her best friend. When several shapeshifters working for Raphael Medrano--the male alpha of the Clan Bouda, and Andrea's former lover--die unexpectedly at a dig site, Andrea is assigned to investigate. Now she must work with Raphael as her search for the killer leads into the secret underbelly of supernatural Atlanta. And dealing with her feelings for him might have to take a back seat to saving the world...

I was pretty sure I was going to enjoy reading this book from Andrea's POV but I had no freaking idea that I would LOVE LOVE LOVE it!

Andrea's story was heart breaking. Her past is full of horrors and her life has never been easy. She has tried her whole adult life to never go back to the way things where before and she keeps part of herself locked away. But now that The Order has abandoned her and Raphael seems to have moved on she is done trying to play human, she finally frees herself and it was amazing to watch that progession.

I loved seeing Kate and Curran from someone else perspective. That was a treat for me. But sometimes when they would walk out the room I was like wait I want to know what you two are doing or saying. We see all our old favorites Derek, Dolittle, Jim and Julie. But I really loved Ascanio in this book. When I first met him he irritated me, but now I love him. I think he is a great addition to the already awesome characters. Oh lets not forget Roman, I was afraid we would go into love triangle mode but that is just not the case, hes also one of my new favorite characters in the series.

I almost feel like I might love this spin off series as much as I do the original. I was going to say more but I just don't know if I can do that. Andrea's story is every bit as good as Kate's. I loved it every minute of it. Ilona Andrews knows how to grab us into a story. Gunmetal Magic was a freaking fantastic book, I am just so glad I started this series. Whether Kate's telling the story or Andrea is you can sure count on one bad ass read, these books are going down in my favorite Urban Fantasies ever!!
