After finishing this book, I'm questioning my love of the first 2 books in this series. Did I love them because I missed YA books without a love triangle? Did I love them because I needed books to read that weren't boring me to death? Did I need a change? Or did Veronica Roth just decide to bore us to tears and then give us tears with this book?
We finally get some answers that left us hanging at the end of book 2. A group of people including Tris and Tobias go outside of the city in order to find out what's there. When they get where they're going it ends up that their city was built by some genetic branch of the government in order to create more genetically pure people. According to these people the Divergent are genetically pure and they are the optimum breed of humans. And when the Divergent weren't actually supposed to be killed, they were supposed to be revered. Edith Prior's video was kinda wrong, the government didn't really want the Divergent to be sent outside of the city after there was a population. And basically the government isn't sure what to do with the people who showed up.
Obviously everyone is reeling from these revelations and everything that goes on is honestly kinda boring. Everything is a lot of explaining the things that have happened and why it happened that way. And of course they, meaning Tris and everyone, decide that they need to overthrow the government. Kinda anyhow.
I honestly don't know how I feel about this book. The ending was horrible. I get that we're not always going to get what we want but this seems crazy. It happened too fast and it seemed really anticlimactic for the entire series. And the wrap up at the end was okay? I guess. I really don't know so I probably should've waited to write this but I'm just going with it. Either way, the ending was 0/10 would not recommend. The rest of the book was alright but it was a lot of information and a lot of it didn't make sense actually. I haven't read any other reviews of this yet because I didn't want any spoilers. I am really interested in seeing what everyone else thought about this one.
