This book was not a hit for me. I didn't really HATE it but I didn't like(notatall) it either. And honestly thinking back on it, I'm not 100% sure what happened.

Cassie is a clairvoyant who was raised among vampires. Immediately she's on the run because the leader of the vamps who raised her, wants to kill her. I'm still not sure why they want her dead and I finished the book. Something to do with her being super powerful. Even though she never really seemed that powerful. And she seemed to be able to do all these random things, including possessing other people but she has no idea how she does it. And apparently her roommate that she's had for six months is a vampire but she didn't know. I don't understand how she didn't know though especially if she was raised around vampires her entire life.

Okay so this book is mainly a whole bunch of explanations. There is a ton of back story and it's all a mash up. It's just way too much explanation. And honestly none of the explanation makes sense. You don't really get to connect or figure out what any of the characters want or who they really are. And when Cassie randomly shifts into a different time, it's literally the most random thing ever. Nothing leads up to it and you have no idea it's going to happen. And then BAM she's someone else and someone else completely and it takes a few minutes for your brain to catch up.

Yeah, this book just wasn't for me. I'm not really into anything that's going on here. I might read the next book. But only because I have been fooled by first books in series before. And it's possible that this was mainly setting the world up for this series. Even so though the whole randomly traveling through time thing was strange. I don't know you guys. I might read the next one. I'll let you know if I think it's as lame as this one.

  1. This was a DNF for me after about 5 or so chapters. A lot of people love this series. Maybe I'll give it a 2nd chance at some point but I have too many series that I do like at the moment to make myself read this one.

    1. I'm thinking maybe at some point I'll read the second book but I don't know. If I wasn't determined to finish these books no matter what, it'd be a dnf for me as well.

  6. Lol I am in the minority then, I do enjoy this series. But it is madcap and so very fast paced. Some answers for you, if you don't want them, don't read on! She did not know Thomas was a vampire, as he is a master and can hide what he is. The vampires want her dead (and lots of others as well) as she is the new Pythia and she does not know anything about that. The Pythia is the ancient Oracle of Delphi. The one being trained to be the next one, went bad, and now Cassie is the new one, and she is not being controlled by the mages. So if they kill her, the power will have to choose someone else they will be able to control. That is it basically. Cassie wants to help her friends, and stay alive, and has to learn about her new powers, with no one who wants to help her.
