Charley is one of the most hilarious, bad ass, PI's in existence. Granted, she doesn't really address her own personal problems head on. And she has a horrible yet hilarious attention deficit. However, I was really proud of her in this book. She really admitted to some long standing issues that she knew she has. Usually she just ignores them and she really made some headway, or at least headway for Charley.
Several different cases have made it to her. Not only is she working on figuring out if Mr. Tidwell is really the cheating scum his wife is convinced he is but she's also helping Ubie at the station. But we all know that random weird things happen to Charley all the time. About 2 dozen women all with varying shades of blonde hair show up at her apartment. All dead of course. Which isn't usually a problem for Charley but this time the women aren't talking or doing much of anything really. So of course she's on the case. Her life is complete chaos.
And her love life is no different. Reyes Alexander Farrow is still around. And thank god he is. I have never been more infatuated with a book character than I am with him. Infatuation with Reyes seems to be a big thing though. He leaves her post it notes on her door all the time. And it makes me want to die. There are also quite a few times where I was quite literally fanning myself when the heat between Reyes and Charley was down right palpable. And he's so sweet to her and demanding of her and I just love them a lot, okay? Needless to say, Reyes does not disappoint.
We get a lot of information about what Charley really is and a few hundred prophecies about her as well. And from a really surprising source. How Reyes plays into all of this is also revealed. There is one thing that happens that literally had my jaw dropping, I was absolutely terrified. Luckily it all ends up okay. And we are left with one hell of a cliffhanger. I know we all will be waiting on the edge of our seats for the next amazing book in this series.
