Holy hell. I almost feel like those two words encompass all of my feelings about this book. This book surpasses everything in this series that has happened before. I was riveted and I couldn't stop reading. I literally could not put the book down. Harrison has literally blown me away.
Rachel has to face the coven in San Francisco. It's a trial to prove that she isn't a black witch. However, the fact that she has been shunned is really putting a damper on the travel plans. Trent is randomly offering Rachel travel accommodations to the west coast with her as his escort. But he's not giving out too much additional information as to why. Rachel, of course, refuses since her and Trent are frenemies. But Ivy, Jenks, and Quen have other ideas. So when airport plans go awry because of Rachel's shunned status, the group takes off on a road trip of epic proportions.
Things are never easy whenever Rachel is involved. Add a bit of Trent, Al, and a day-walking demon in the mix and you get a recipe for destruction. Jenks is kidnapped by a group of wild pixies, Trent causes mass destruction is the midwest, random elf assassins are trying to kill Trent, and a member of the coven is following close on their heels. Not too mention, the entire dynamic of the Rachel/Ivy/Jenks relationship is on the cusp of something major.
Granted the whole thing is a bit more complicated than it seems. I've over simplified a bit as to not get insanely ramble-y. Because, trust me, it would happen. Things are coming to a head with Rachel. I think that she's closer than ever before to figuring out who she is. I was so into this entire book. I love where Rachel is heading. I have no idea how this is going to end up but I can't wait to find out.
