I can't quit this series. I'm trucking right through and I am so in love with it. I think Rachel is flighty and makes awful decisions but I can't help but love her. There is something so endearing about her and the morals she has that I just want to be her friend. And friendship is a huge undertaking in this book.
Rachel has her fingers in one too many pies, per usual. She's been shunned by the coven of ethical and moral standings because she's a black witch and consorts with demons. Which she is and she does. She's still fighting it though and insisting that she isn't. Also, they know what she is. And Rachel is convinced that Trent was the squealer. As their feud is long and standing steady. However, I was pretty sure that Rachel was wrong.
There are a few characters in this series that keep popping up like rats. Crapforbrains is back, AGAIN. I'm going to talk about this a lot because it annoys me to no end. Rachel is a bleeding heart, I get it. She roots for the underdog, she feels guilty over everything, she has horrible taste in men. I get it. But the fact that she keeps giving the benefit of the doubt to Nick really busts my chops. He's a slimy scumbag. Not too mention there is a random ghost that Rachel knew when she was 18 for one night, that is a black magic practicing witch. Dude is bad news but of course Rachel is attracted to him (he gets a body, long story). Granted she tries to stay away from him and tells him off but *SPOILER* it doesn't work. Can we talk about how much I'm coming to love that stupid demon Al? That demon is bad ass.
Rachel is learning a lot of magic. Like way more than she ever has before. And the coven in this book is relentless. There is a lot that goes on in this book and most of it not good. One thing in particular had me sobbing. Even if the book isn't full of cheer and joy, it's still an amazing story. It still draws you in and hooks you. You can't put it down and now that I've gotten this far, I can't stop reading this series. If you haven't read this yet, please do. If you have read it, tell me nothing! (haha)
