Why did I wait so long to read this series? I should have known that I would love it since I love Estep's adult Elemental Series. Touch of Frost was an amazing read. The characters where likeable, the story was intriguing and I was glued to this book. I was seriously able to shut the world away and just get totally lost in the world she has created.

I love Gwen. She a gypsy and can see things (like whatever the person emotions where by touching something)  by touching something or someone whether she wants to or not. She is smart and fiesty and pretty nosy. Once she decides to figure something out she is determined. I mean she even sat through a girl giving a bj just to get some clues. When she starts at Mythos she is a little bit of a loner because no one will talk to her. But when a girl gets murdered, Gwen is determined to find out why and she starts making a few unlikely friends. It was nice to see one of the mean girls come around even if their relationship did start off with blackmail.

I love that they are at an Academy full of paranormals and not just the usual paranormals, there are Valkyries, Amazons and Spartans. The students there are learning to be warriors to defend against reapers.  Estep always seems to go out of the box when she writes a story and I love all the new things she introduces me to.

Now I must mention Logan. If there had been a little more resolution with him and Gwen or maybe even a freaking kiss this would have been a 5 star book for me. But his hot and then cold crap really got me mad. I mean the ending scene with him, I just felt hurt. But I am still holding out hope for him. I mean he is a sexy ass warrior who does come to Gwen's rescue. I can give him another chance.

I have already reserved my copy for the next book. I can't wait to dig more into this series. Its an amazing start to what I am sure will be one of my favorite YA series!

  3. The slow burn YA romance definitely takes some getting used to compared to our usual PNR but overall I am enjoyed this series too. Jennifer Estep is a talented author!

    1. Jennifer really is. I love all of her books so far. YA is so different from PNR but still really great when done right. And Jennifer definitely does it right.
