I am happy to say that I loved this book just as much if not a little more then Touch of Frost. Gwen finally has some friends and after everything she has been through that just made me really happy. I like her having people to go to at the end of the day or when her life is in danger. In this book we leave behind Mythos Academy and head to the Winter Carnival at a ski resort and if Gwen thought she was leaving her troubles behind, she was dead wrong.

Gwen is almost killed a lot in this book. She knows a reaper is after her but she just doesn't know who. She wants to get some proof too before she goes asking for help. She doesn't want to seem like a hysterical girl when she has no proof that someone is after her. She starts to get clues on her own and is in for a big surprise.

The bad guy in this I figured out the second we met him and pretty much saw what his plans where. I am always plotting a long with a book though so sometimes I get it right and sometimes not. I also figured out Olivers secret pretty quickly although I didn't see that other thing he did. That was a surprise.

I really felt Gwen's pain every time Logan and Savannah entered a room. It just broke my heart. You can see that he cares for Gwen. But I am really happy with the progress those two have made. And Logan always showing up to the rescue makes it that much easier to forgive him. I loved when he busted in and Gwen was like "My Hero" because that is exactly what I was thinking. Their relationship might not be where I want it but its getting there. Plus now that we saw a bit into Logan's past I can see where he is coming from.

Gwen learns more about her gift and some new things she can do with it. And who knows as time goes on she may be even to do more. It is definitely implied that our little weird gypsy girl is destined for big big things. But on the downside she accidentally stumbles on her mothers death, and that was heart breaking. While I think her gypsy gifts are awesome, it has to be so hard to be careful of what or who you touch. Sometimes a girl just needs a hug with no worries.

Jennifer Estep is just an amazing writer whether its adult or YA you can count on her books to be totally bad ass! I am loving these Mytho Academy books and can't wait to jump in for more.

  1. I love this series but I wish that Logan would quit being such a stupid boy. I think he's finally starting to come around in Midnight Frost but you're still a few books behind that. Great review Amber, I'm so happy you're in the Jennifer Estep fan club with me! :D
