This is the second book in the series and we're following Lucien/Death. While in the first book Maddox was the main character and we mainly saw his story. In this book Lucien is the "main"character but we actually get quite a bit of story for the other characters as well.

Lucien is the lord of death and escorting souls to heaven and hell can weigh on a person. He stays distant from most people, including the other lords. When he comes across Anya he feels an immediate attraction to her but convinces himself that because of his scars, there's no way she could feel the same, not too mention he's been ordered to kill her. Anya has her own issues, a curse she can't overcome, a Titan god who is out to take something vital from her. But together Anya and Lucien must work to overcome these obstacles in order to find specific artifacts. And this working together comes a whole bag of other problems.

I like that we get some of the other characters in this book as well. So we can kind of tell where the other books might be heading. I liked Lucien and Anya's story but I feel like the connection between them happened kinda fast. Lucien was ordered to kill her and she knows what he's planning and yet they still want to be together? I don't know, it just seemed a little far fetched to me. However, we do get to see a bit more of Reyes in this book and his story has been building up since the last and I'm really looking forward to seeing what happens with him. Probably because there's more build up.

All in all I liked this book. I think it's a fun read and a pretty interesting storyline. I'm interested in seeing how the rest of these books play out and where the story progresses to.

  2. I had a really hard time getting into this series. I thought the first book was cheese :(, but I'm glad I kept going, some of the following books made this series one of my favorite of the paranormal romance genre.
I also enjoyed this one, and just like you, I thought it was a pretty fan listen :)

  3. This is one of my very favorite PNR ROM series! I like it MUCH more than BDB, lol. This wasn't my favorite of the series, but Anya is such a fun character that I still really enjoyed it.

Reyes books are like, WHOA!! There's one scene...well, you'll see ;)

  4. I absolutely love Anya, in this book and the ones coming up. She is a lot of fun. Isalys, in the comment above needs to remind me of which scene she is talking about. My memory sucks and if it is about Reyes and Dani I NEED to remember!
