The Lords of the Underworld are living in Budapest. And while the townspeople revere them as angels they are far from it. What it boils down to is that they used to be warriors who guarded the gods. They fell out of favor when they allowed their pride get in the way of their jobs. Pandora's Box happened, which they allowed, and the demons set loose actually found homes in the warriors. So now the warriors have demons inside of them. The man and the demon must coexist.

There are a group of human hunters who have been on the search for them for thousands of years. They want to kill them to set free the evil from the world. Little do they know there is a bit more to it than that. Although the warriors have the demons inside of them, they try their best to do good. They donate money to the town that they live outside of, they keep criminals in line, and they really try their best to keep their demons at bay.

Although things have been the same for these warriors for a long, long time, things are definitely changing. There has been a shift in the hierarchy of the gods. Hunters have found their home and are doing their damnedest to kill the warriors. This book really focuses on Maddox who has Violence inside him. However, we get a lot of the story for the others as well. It's really well entwined. Ashlyn is a woman from the US who is found in the forest surrounding the home by Maddox when he was out searching for Hunters. And Ashlyn isn't a normal woman, she has the capability of hearing conversations that happened thousands of years ago just by being in one spot. Maddox is suspicious of her because he thinks she's working with Hunters. Even though he is suspicious of her, he is also strongly attracted to her. Which is odd for him because of his demon, he hasn't felt strongly towards any woman in a long time.

I really thought that this book was going to be a whole lotta sex and nothing else. So it's sat on my TBR pile for the longest. Because even though I do enjoy the book porn, I like a good story with it. Needless to say, I was wrong about this book. The story that goes with it is interesting, unique, and fresh. I really can't say enough about this story to fully encompass how amazing and in depth it really is. I loved this book and I can't wait to get further in this series.

  1. I have yet to read a Gena Showalter book. I thought they'd be mostly sex too so it's good to know I was wrong. Maybe I'll bump one of her books up my TBR pile.

  2. I've. Got this book from my library like 5 Times but never ever started it. I'm not sure I ever will. Something has always stopped me.

  3. Probably the same thing that's always stopped me. But it really wasn't that bad. It's not something that I'll be emotionally invested in but it's a good read.

  5. We're the same, I love a good story to go with my book porn too! I haven't tried any of her books and I honestly don't know where to begin. I feel so overwhelmed by the amount of books she's published already!

    1. She has a ton of books out. I actually picked this off of someone else's tbr list. But I think it's a good read. Definitely check it out if you're not reading anything or having a hard time thinking of something.
