Kristen Painter

Please Introduce yourself to our readers?
I'm Kristen Painter and I write urban fantasy for Orbit Books. I also have some paranormal romances out with Samhain and some I've indie pubbed.

Can you tell us a little about the world you've created?
The House of Comarre world is set slightly into the future, but it's a future that hasn't changed much do to the "Great War". And because of the breaking of a covenant that kept the existence of othernaturals secret, humans are just coming to realize that vampires, shifters and fae walk among them. My stories tend to focus on the othernaturals more than the humans, though. And there's always a nice dollop of romance in there!

What are you most excited about at AADSAV?
Hanging out with readers, talking about books and seeing old friends!

Any authors you are excited to meet?
Amanda Bonilla! We're FB and Twitter friends, but have never met in real life.

Tell us about your latest release?
Last Blood is the final book in the series so I don't want to give away too much, so let's just say there's lots of chaos, a high body count but ultimately, a happy ending.

Any restaurants in Savannah you plan on hitting up? (I would love to know, I want some ideas for myself)
I haven't' gotten that far yet. lol I'm sure as the date approaches, I'll have a few on my list. I'm also game to try just about anything, so who knows!

Are planning on dressing up for any of the balls?
Totally! I'm part of the Vampire Ball, so I'll be in full vampire regalia - fangs, contacts and the whole bit!

Any sites you plan on seeing while in Savannah?
I do want to get out and see some of the town because I have a story idea I'd love to set there. I feel like it's the kind of place that will really inspire me.

About Kristen: I’m a former college English teacher, but I’ve held a crazy mix of other jobs including maitre’d for Wolfgang Puck, personal trainer, and sales for Christian Dior Bijoux. On the writing side of things, I’m a two-time Golden Heart finalist and have been on the board of three different RWA chapters. What can I say? I like getting involved. I’m not adverse to bossing people around either.
My forays into writing have been as varied as the jobs I’ve held. I’ve written poetry, articles for magazines, short stories, paranormal romances (that include fantasy, contemporary and steampunk genres) and now I’ve found a home with urban fantasy. I love worldbuilding and few genres give you the kind of license urban fantasy does.

I am only on book 2 but I am loving this series. You must check it out. And thanks so much Kristen for stopping by today!
