I have noticed lately that I really love the second book in a series more than I like the first one. And this series is exactly the same. And I really, really liked the first book. But this book was so much better than the first one.

Jane is still on contract with the vamps in New Orleans. Although the head of the city, Leo is out to get her for killing his "son". It wasn't really his son, it was some creepy vamp doppelganger. Poor Leo knows that it wasn't really his son but he's totally vamped out in grief and he can't get over it. So Jane has Leo on her case...sometimes. Not too mention she's still working to find the rogue vampires who are turning people randomly. It turns out that a string of missing witch kids might be connected to this vampire.

Jane is completely bad ass. There is nothing about her that isn't bad ass. I love the exchanges between her and Beast. They crack me up and make me laugh so hard. Although Jane and Beast are one and the same, I really need to point out that Beast is awesome too. Beast has a strong pull in this book and I really loved finding more out about Jane's past.

There is a bit of a love triangle. But not really. I am usually 100% against any type of love triangle but I really don't feel like this is a real one. Jane does have 2 love interests in this book. Rick who is a NOPD detective and Bruiser who is Leo's blood servant and it seems like he's his right hand man. Although Bruiser is a bit of enigma. Anyhow, there's really no competition between these two. It's all very mature and Jane has heat with both of them. As of the end of this book she's more with Rick but I'm rooting for Bruiser, the entire way. I just feel like they have more of a heat together and I personally think Bruiser is way sexier. So we'll see with that.

This book was awesome over all. It's definitely fast moving and really intense. There were so many parts of this book where I was legitimately tearing up. So many things happened that were absolutely insane and completely unforeseen that happened. It was one of those moments when I was done with this book that I immediately wanted to move on to the next book in this series. This series is absolutely amazing so far and if you haven't read this yet you definitely need too.

  5. I love this series. I find that the second book is better because it doesn't have all the world building to go through that the first one does. You already have an idea of where you are at and what to expect.
