                Introduce Yourself to our readers

Hello there, readers! Er… my name is Kristen Callihan, and I write the Darkest London series, set in Victorian England. I like to call my books gaslamp romances in that they have a mix of Gothic mystery, paranormal fantasy, and romance. When I’m not drinking copious amounts of coffee and writing, I’m usually reading, romance being my favorite genre, and, well, let’s face it, drinking copious amounts of coffee.

Is this your first RT convention?
Yes. :-)

What are you most looking forward to at RT?
As most of my time is spent in my little writing cave, I’m really looking forward to getting out and talking to people who love books and writing them as much as I do.

Where can we find you at RT?
Likely roaming the halls, gazing around like a lost sheep. I wouldn’t call myself shy, but I’m terrible at mingling and tend to get overwhelmed in crowds. So if you see me looking blank and distant, it’s not you, it’s me. Lol. Feel free to come up and rescue me!

Authors your most excited about meeting?
The ones I talk to online or have met before. We’re all so scattered around the country. Conventions like this are likely the only times we’ll get to hang out face to face.

If we seen you at the bar what drink would be in your hand?
A cocktail. Because I can nurse those. Wine? Nope, that’d go straight down and I’d keep drinking more, and I don’t think anyone wants to see me dancing on a tabletop. Or perhaps I should say, I don’t want to see footage of it the next day. ;-)

Since this event is for paranormal authors, can you tell us more about the paranormal in your book?
Darkest London is kind of a paranormal buffet. We’ve got demons, lycans, shifters, and elementals (humans who can control the elements.) And then there are the more exotic types, such as ghosts in the machines, who are immortals that can leave their bodies and roam in spirit. Winterblaze features appearances by all of them. That said, our intrepid hero Winston Lane is full-human and must rely on his intellect and courage to survive. Well that, and a little help from his wife Poppy, who has the ability to freeze just about any foe solid with a thought.

Tell us a little about your newest book?
I am absolutely terrible at talking about my books. I find myself babbling about this and that happening and, you know, like other stuff… cough. So I’ll just say this: Winterblaze is a marriage in trouble, Faustian–deal-with-the-devil mystery, Mr. and Mrs. Smith meets zombies, romance-adventure, in which, like, a lot of stuff happens. ;-)

Any plans in the city while you're there?
All I know is that I have to try some Kansas City barbeque! Mmmm…

What would you like to find in the "Goody Room"?
I shall tell you a dark and horrible Goody Room secret. Last year, just before the massive RWA literacy signing, I realized that I hadn’t brought along any pens. I raided the Goody Room for pen swag to sign my books. Gak! I feel so ashamed.

Is your RT experience all planned out or are you more of a fly-by-the-seat-of-your-pants type person?
Seat of my pants –just like I write my books. ;-)

Once blissfully in love . . .

Poppy Lane is keeping secrets. Her powerful gift has earned her membership in the Society for the Suppression of Supernaturals, but she must keep both her ability and her alliance with the Society from her husband, Winston. Yet when Winston is brutally attacked by a werewolf, Poppy's secrets are revealed, leaving Winston's trust in her as broken as his body. Now Poppy will do anything to win back his affections . . .

Their relationship is now put to the ultimate test.

Winston Lane soon regains his physical strength but his face and heart still bear the scars of the vicious attack. Drawn into the darkest depths of London, Winston must fight an evil demon that wants to take away the last hope of reconciliation with his wife. As a former police inspector, Winston has intelligence and logic on his side. But it will take the strength of Poppy's love for him to defeat the forces that threaten to tear them apart.
