We are HUGE Kristen Callihan fans so today we are so excited to talk a little to her about her awesome series and her newest release Winterblaze! And seriously if you haven't read these books yet then you are missing out!!! They are AMAZING!!!
Once blissfully in love . . .
Poppy Lane is keeping secrets. Her powerful gift has earned her membership in the Society for the Suppression of Supernaturals, but she must keep both her ability and her alliance with the Society from her husband, Winston. Yet when Winston is brutally attacked by a werewolf, Poppy's secrets are revealed, leaving Winston's trust in her as broken as his body. Now Poppy will do anything to win back his affections . . .
Their relationship is now put to the ultimate test.
Winston Lane soon regains his physical strength but his face and heart still bear the scars of the vicious attack. Drawn into the darkest depths of London, Winston must fight an evil demon that wants to take away the last hope of reconciliation with his wife. As a former police inspector, Winston has intelligence and logic on his side. But it will take the strength of Poppy's love for him to defeat the forces that threaten to tear them apart.
- When you first started Firelight did you already know what other characters you were going to have featured in their own books?
However, once I sold it to Forever, and they wanted another book, I thought Ian and Daisy were perfect for each other, so I went back and added Ian into the epilogue.
- How many books do you plan for The Darkest London series? And do you already have all the featured characters picked out?
That depends on how long Forever will let me play. :) I do have some characters in mind, and others pop up when I’m writing.
- What is your favorite scene from Winterblaze?
Wow. That’s really hard. Lol. Because I really enjoyed the characters in this book, which made many of the scenes fun to write.
There are two that stick out because, maybe because they were so clear in my mind when I wrote them.
The first is when Poppy and Win grapple while discussing Poppy’s guarding of Win. Win thinks he has Poppy pinned, only to find she has him…er well in hand. (g)
The second is Win talking to Jones. Not very romantic, but I really loved Jones. I loved how Win and Jones played off each other, and I think in another life, and if Jones weren’t trying to destroy his life, Win would have liked him.
- Your covers are amazing. Do you have a favorite?
- Do you have a favorite character from your books? If so which one? Or are you like me and it’s super hard to pick?
It’s hard to pick. Mainly because you get so close to the ones you are writing at the time that they are your favorite. For me, writing a book is a bit like character acting. You have to sink into your characters and see the world from their eyes and feel what they feel. There hasn’t been a character that I didn’t like –or I’d cull them from the manuscript. Even the secondary characters and the villains are a joy to write.
I can tell you that Ian and Daisy were the easiest to write because we all share the same sense of humor. I have a great sentimentality for Archer because I identified a lot with him. And because I was the eldest sibling in my house, I also identify with Poppy and her need to watch over everyone. Right now, however, I’m having much love for Jack Talent –loyal, angry, socially awkward, wounded bird that he is. :)
