Author Spotlight: Rachel Caine

Sunday, February 17, 2013

Every once and a while me and Amber R. will find an author that totally rocks our socks off that we want to highlight. Sometimes authors kick so much ass we just want to everyone to know. It'll be a simple post, nothing fancy.

Today's Author being Spotlighted is.......

About Rachel:
Rachel Caine is the #1 internationally bestselling author of more than thirty novels, including the bestselling Morganville Vampires series, the Weather Warden series, the Outcast Season series, and the new upcoming Revivalist series. She was born at White Sands Missile Range, which people who know her say explains a lot. She has been an accountant, a professional musician, and an insurance investigator, and until very recently continued to carry on a secret identity in the corporate world. She and her husband, fantasy artist R. Cat Conrad, live in Texas.

One of my MOST Favorite YA Series:

So, you're new to Morganville. Welcome, new resident! There are only a few important rules you need to know to feel comfortable in our quiet little town:

* Obey the speed limits.
* Don't litter.
* Whatever you do, don't get on the bad side of the vampires.

Yeah, we said vampires. Deal with it.
As a human newcomer, you'll need to find yourself a vampire Protector--someone willing to sign a contract to keep you and yours from harm (especially from the other vampires). In return, you'll pay taxes . . . just like in any other town. Of course, in most other towns, those taxes don't get collected by the Bloodmobile.
Oh, and if you decide not to get a Protector, you can do that, too . . . but you'd better learn how to run fast, stay out of the shadows, and build a network of friends who can help you. Try contacting the residents of the Glass House--Michael, Eve, Shane, and Claire. They know their way around, even if they always end up in the middle of the trouble somehow.

Welcome to Morganville. You'll never want to leave.
And even if you do . . . well, you can't.
Sorry about that.

Series Reading Order

I freaking love this series!! Even if you are not a big YA fan I think you could get on the Morganville train. Its not your typical YA with lots of angst and love triangles. Its in its own league. Each book is amazing! Seriously I have never read one book out of this series that I haven't loved! The characters are amazing, the story line is exciting and when I first picked up the first book I read all 8 that where out within 2-3 weeks. It only took me that long because my library didn't have one. I remember when the 8th book came in at my library, I got the email at like 7pm. It was snowing out but I packed up my 3 kids drove to the library, waiting until the next morning was just not an option!!

If you haven't tried this series, then you MUST!

I know Amber R. loves her Weather Warden Series too. I haven't started it yet but I plan too. I also just got her first book in her Outcast Season series from the library. If her adult series are even half as awesome as her Morganville Series I will be one happy lady!

Only the Wardens stand between the wrath of Mother Earth and the clueless masses of humanity around the world ... and Joanne Baldwin is one of the best. Pity she’s on the run for her life ...

I don't know how many of you have read the Weather Warden series yet but it's absolutely amazing. Definitely one of my favorite series. Of course, I love the Morganville Vamps, which brings something new and interesting with every book. Well this series is no different. Weather Wardens is something that I've never read before. It's a whole new world, completely original and completely amazing. I read the first 6 or so books in just a matter of weeks, I couldn't put them down. Rachel seriously has some of the most creative ideas and books that I've ever come across. She's definitely a favorite author. You definitely need to check her out if you haven't yet.
