10 Things You'll Learn from Whispers at Moonrise

Sunday, September 30, 2012

  1. Kicking your boyfriend’s father’s butt might not be good for the relationship.
  2. Sometimes following your heart means breaking some rules.
  3. Getting trapped in a grave with three dead girls is not a walk in the park.
  4. Your parents breaking up sucks. Your mom having a boyfriend, and kissing him in front of you, sucks BIG TIME.
  5. When your boyfriend says one thing, but does another, what do you believe? His actions or his words?
  6. You can’t always protect the ones you love. Sometimes the only way to protect them is to tell them the truth—even if it hurts.
  7. When you are in love, you usually want to talk a lot more about your boyfriend than your girlfriends care to hear.
  8. You shouldn’t mess with magic if you don’t know what you’re doing. Especially when someone could end up sterile.
  9. Sometimes it is the little choices we make, and not the big ones, that define who we are.
  10. Be careful what you wish for or you might end up turning a bright shade of red in the boys’ bathroom.

Other Books In the Shadow Fall Series:

C.C. Hunter grew up in Alabama, where she caught lightning bugs, ran barefoot, and regularly rescued potential princes, in the form of Alabama bullfrogs, from her brothers. Today, she's still fascinated with lightning bugs, mostly wears shoes, but has turned her focus to rescuing mammals. She now lives in Texas with her four rescued cats, one dog, and a prince of a husband, who for the record, is so not a frog. When she's not writing, she's reading, spending time with her family, or is shooting things-with a camera, not a gun.
C.C. Hunter is a pseudonym. Her real name is Christie Craig and she also writes humorous romantic suspense romance novels for Grand Central. www.christie-craig.com

Randomly Random Interview: Jennifer The Book Nympho

Saturday, September 29, 2012

Welcome to our new feature:
Randomly Random Interviews!
We here at AwesomeSauce missed Featuring Bloggers and getting to know them better. So instead of what we did before and only talked books now we are going to talk about lots of Randomness! Hope you Enjoy and make some new friends!!

So without Further Ado Please Welcome
Jennifer from The Book Nympho

Me and Reading button by Parajunkee

 Why did you start blogging?
  •  I don’t have many people to talk to in real life about the books I read so after making friends on Shelfari and Goodreads I got into following blogs. Then I thought how cool would it be to have my own.

 Best author moment?
  • At AADNOLA when Amanda Carlson asked me if I was from Australia. Cuz clearly my Arkansas accent sounds Australian to someone from the mid-west. LOL! Love ya Amanda!

First book you fell in love with?
  • Twilight and like most 1st loves it didn’t last. I do have to credit it for getting me to read. But I have now moved on to better written books.

When you're not reading and reviewing what do you do?
  • Watching supes on TV. True Blood, The Vampire Dairies, Lost Girl. And sometimes I pull out my DVDs of Buffy and Angel. The hubby and I are starting to play catch up on Grimm and Supernatural too.
Oh and I also spend time with the kiddo. LOL

If you could pick a book character to be stuck on a deserted island with, who would you pick and why?
  • Jericho Z. Barrons! If I have to explain then you have clearly not read the Fever series by Karen M. Moning.

 First blog post?

Blogging is tough,. what keeps you doing it?
  • I feel like if I stopped blogging I would stop reading and fall off the face of the social world within the blogging community and loose some great book friends.

If you could meet 5 of your favorite bloggers who would you pick?

I’ve already meet a few at AADNOLA. So I’ll pick a few I’ve not meet yet.

Ok. I need to stop. I was only to list 5 but there are so many great bloggers I’ve not meet yet.

Top 5 authors you want to meet?
  • J.R. Ward
  • Chloe Neill
  • Karen M. Moning
  • Ilona Andrews
  • Stacia Kane

The zombie apocalypse has happened, what are your plans to survive?
  • Well after I change my underwear from crapping myself… I would make sure I have my family with me and then find a safe place to hold up with tons of weapons and food. I’m thinking the whole prison thing that The Walking Dead is about to do for season 3 would be a great place to hold up. Clean it out; grow our own crops within the walls. Have a schedule for people to keep watch in the guard towers. Then I would take in a few strangers to shelter so if we are over run by zombies they can be the bait while my family and I get away. LOL

Lucas Simone is not the kind of guy you mess with. He’s big, he’s strong, and his eyes hint at a wilder side most women can’t handle. Of course, that’s because his predatory instincts are no metaphor—he’s a genuine Grade-A top-quality werewolf, tough enough to fight his way to dominance over the scariest pack on the West Coast. There’s only one chink in his armor. Unlike most alpha dogs, Lucas has a reputation for protecting the weak and innocent.
Sarah King is counting on that protective impulse—it’s the only thing standing between her and certain death. There are only two problems: one, she’s not quite as innocent as she’d like Lucas to believe. And two, if he doesn’t stop stoking Sarah’s animal lust, it’s only a matter of time before her own wild side gets unleashed…

I have to say Cynthia Eden is becoming one of my go to authors when I need an awesome story to get me out of a reading funk. This is my 6th book I have read from her and I have loved them all. She always delivers me an amazing story and brings on the sexy!

Never Cry Wolf had me hooked within page one. Lucas is this hot alpha male but he also has a soft spot for protecting the weak. Then in comes Sarah who seems soft and weak but the girl has a whole ton of secrets up her sleeve. The chemistry between the two was sizzling off the pages from their first encounter. But you know she has her secrets and you are not sure what they are and when they come out if Lucas will be able to forgive her.

Then the story itself was just amazing. We know someone is gunning for Sarah and the pack. And even though we find out early who it is, the person is not the only one. You really have no idea who is working for who, who is still loyal and how it will all turn up in the end.

This book is packed from beginning to end with non stop action, mystery, suspense and of course my favorite some good old fashion getting it on!! If you are a lover of werewolves or just love the paranormal then you are going to love this book! Cynthia Eden is definitely an author you want to check out.

**And this book is a stand alone. I know some places says it is book 4 in a series but its not. I guess it takes place in the world of one of her series but its not considered a part of it. I haven't read that series and I wasn't missing anything. You can read this alone, I promise!! **

Months after moving to the mysterious city of Cognito, Silver is developing her gifts as a Mage, and learning how to live under new laws. Forced to give up her old life, she must now live in secret among the humans. She finally has hope of leading an ordinary life . . . until Logan Cross walks into it.

Their chance meeting leads her close to discovering the identity of the nameless Mage who once stole her light and discovered the unique power she possesses. That knowledge poses an unimaginable threat to Silver, fueling her search to find out who he is, before he finds her first.

Lives are at stake. Truths are revealed. And an unexpected passion ignites.

My main thought throughout this book was, "When are Silver and Logan going to bang?" Amber I. is rubbing off on me. Ugh. SPOILER ALERT, they don't bang. I was so disappointed. Logan is so hot. The heat between them is down right sizzling. And we didn't get any sexy times. It came close but no cigar. If I didn't like the story I would read the next book just for that. Luckily, I actually like the story too.

Things are finally coming to head with the benefactor. We're getting some headway with trying to catch him. We even find one of his hideouts. Silver is as headstrong as ever. So is Justus, which always leads into some headbutting between the two. The story line is something that you get caught up in. You just can't stop once you start reading.

I absolutely love this series and I'll be looking for the next book in the series. If you guys haven't checked this series out you definitely should. This series is awesome!

Creature Feature with Logan from Jeri Smith-Ready's Shade Trilogy

Wednesday, September 26, 2012

Welcome to our brand spanking new
 "Creature Feature"
each week we will have an author on here talking to us about their spin on a paranormal "creature" from their books.

Today's Guest of Honor is Logan from Jeri Smith-Ready's Shade Trilogy!
Hope you Enjoy!
Please leave a comment to let us know how you like this feature

Hey everyone, Logan Keeley here! The Woman Upstairs (you know her as Jeri Smith-Ready) said I could answer these interview questions about one of my favorite topics: ME. Thanks to Amber for inviting us!

What is your Creature? I’m a ghost, which is what happens to most people in my world when they die suddenly. Some of them pass on and find peace right away, so no one sees them as ghosts. But the rest of us hang around because we have, um, issues. Or hey, we just love this world—who can blame us?

Name? Logan Keeley, former lead singer and guitarist for the Keeley Brothers. Boyfriend to Aura Salvatore, the smartest, most beautiful girl alive. She and everyone born after her can see and talk to ghosts, and no one else can. They’re known as “Post-Shifters,” since the weird event that caused this is called the Shift.” (That’s also the name of the second book in the series, SHIFT.)

Is your creature from a specific part of the world? Nah, ghosts are everywhere! But we can only go to the places where we went in life, like hamsters in a Habitrail. So most people try to travel as much as they can, in case they become a ghost someday. As much as it sucks to be stuck in one town when you’re alive, it’s sucks even MORE when you’re dead. I like to haunt Dublin a lot, and my hometown of Baltimore. And sometimes DisneyWorld.

Physical Description? We glow violet, or at least that’s the way we look to post-Shifters. Also, we’re captured in our happiest moment. So if you were to see a young-looking ghost, that doesn’t mean they died young. Me, I died on the happiest night of my life (I know, tragic!), so I look like I did then. Bleached blond hair with a black streak (did I mention I was in a punk band?), skate shorts, short sleeve button down shirt (it wasn’t what I wore to the concert, but I changed afterward for my seventeenth birthday party, since my concert shirt was sweaty), and my blue-and-black-checkered hightop Vans.

Yep, that’s me, forever: skate-punk rocker in violet. Luckily, I’m a Ravens fan, so I’m not as anti-purple as most guys.

What book or series does this creature appear in? I rock the SHADE trilogy by Jeri Smith-Ready: SHADE, SHIFT, and SHINE.

I also have a short story in the ENTHRALLED anthology (edited by Melissa Marr and Kelley Armstrong—if you want to find it, look under their names, not Jeri’s). It’s called “Bridge,” and it’s about me and my older brother Mickey. In the story, I have to stop him from killing himself over my death, but he’s a pre-Shifter and can’t hear me, so I find a stranger to be the go-between. It takes place at the beach, which is cool.

What is the history of this creature? how where they created, where do they come from? Oh man, that involves big-time book spoilers, but I’ll try to explain what I can. Ghosts have always been around, but most people couldn’t see them, and when they did, we looked wispy gray or white. Which is how I’ve heard things are in your world. But in my world (which is a lot like yours—we have most of the same bands and movies and stuff), after the Shift, ghosts became violet, and everyone born after the Shift could see us.

What are their strengths? We can zap ourselves from place to place just by thinking about it. We’re invisible to adults (at least until Aura and those born after her grow up).

BUT there are these things called shades. They’re what ghosts transform into when we get really bitter and desperate. The longer someone stays a ghost, the more likely they’ll become a shade. Sadly, shades can never pass on or find peace, so shading is pretty much a one-way trip to Hell-on-earth.

Shades have major strengths, though. They can go where they want, and they make post-Shifters sick and dizzy. There’s a whole division of the Department of Metaphysical Purity that protects the world from shades, called the Obsidian Corps. They are badass, and I hate them.

What are their weaknesses? Like I mentioned before, ghosts can only travel where we went during our lives. Plus we can’t enter rooms or buildings where the walls are lined with BlackBox, which is this technology based on electromagnetically charged obsidian. Also, we really don’t like the color red. And we can’t see other ghosts, which makes our afterlives pretty lonely. (Not that I ever feel sorry for myself. Much. I mean, not 100% of the time.)

Shades’ major weakness is that they can’t talk to anyone, because pre-Shifters can’t see them and post-Shifters are too busy puking their guts out. And there’s that whole eternity-with-sucky-existence thing.

OH! I almost forgot: ghosts can’t lie. (That’s a weakness, right?) So they get called to testify as witnesses for lots of crimes, including their own murders! Aura’s job is to translate ghosts’ testimonies in court. Which is pretty cool, but can also be sad and weird.

How long can they live? We don’t technically live at all. We’re dead. We can’t touch anything (there are no such thing as poltergeists) or hug and kiss the people we love. I guess we can exist on earth forever, either as ghosts or shades, but I can’t imagine anyone wanting to.

What do they need to survive? Nothing. We don’t eat, either, which is a major bummer. I miss pizza more than ANYTHING other than playing guitar and kissing my girlfriend.

What are some unique characteristics that set them apart from humans? Ouch! We ARE human. We’re not monsters. Well, okay, shades are monsters. But still! It’s bad enough to be dead without people thinking we’re not human.

(I know it’s just a form question, so I’m not mad at you personally. It’s just that there are some people in my world (mostly pre-Shifters who can’t even see us) who really hate ghosts and want to lock us all up.)

Are they made or born? We’re made by dying suddenly. I guess this is because sudden death doesn’t give you time to prepare. Hardly anyone wants to die, but when you have some warning, it helps you accept it.

Do you like being what you are? Well, obviously, I’d rather be alive than dead. I had a lot to live for— college, a music career, a loving family, the best girlfriend ever. But I did something colossally stupid that took my life away. I hope that readers learn from my mistake and don’t do what I did. Maybe my could even save a life or two.

BUT if I had to die like that, I’m glad I could be a ghost. It gave me a chance to say goodbye to the people I love. It even gave me a chance to grow up.

I guess that’s as good a place as any to stop yakking. Thanks a lot for having me on your blog—you rock!

 About Jeri

Award-winning author Jeri Smith-Ready lives in Maryland with her husband, two cats, and the world’s goofiest greyhound.

Jeri's plans to save the earth were ruined when she realized she was more of a “problem maker” than a problem solver. To stay out of trouble, she keeps her Drama Drive strictly fictional. Her friends and family appreciate that.

When not writing, Jeri she can usually be found—well, thinking about writing, or on Twitter. Like her characters, she loves music, movies, and staying up very, very late.

More About The Shade Books:

Love ties them together. Death can't tear them apart. Best. Birthday. Ever. At least, it was supposed to be. With Logan's band playing a critical gig and Aura's plans for an intimate after-party, Aura knows it will be the most memorable night of her boyfriend's life. She never thought it would be his last.

Logan's sudden death leaves Aura devastated. He's gone.

Well, sort of.

Like everyone born after the Shift, Aura can see and hear ghosts. This mysterious ability has always been annoying, and Aura had wanted nothing more than to figure out why the Shift happened so she can undo it. But not with Logan’s violet-hued spirit still hanging around. Because dead Logan is almost as real as ever. Almost.

It doesn't help that Aura’s new friend Zachary is so understanding—and so very alive. His support means more to Aura than she cares to admit.

As Aura's relationships with the dead and the living grow ever complicated, so do her feelings for Logan and Zachary. Each holds a piece of Aura's heart…and clues to the secret of the Shift.

Aura’s life is anything but easy. Her boyfriend, Logan, died, and his slides between ghost and shade have left her reeling. Aura knows he needs her now more than ever. She loves Logan, but she can’t deny her connection with the totally supportive, totally gorgeous Zachary. And she’s not sure that she wants to.
Logan and Zachary will fight to be the one by her side, but Aura needs them both to uncover the mystery of her past—the mystery of the Shift.
As Aura’s search uncovers new truths, she must decide whom to trust with her secrets…and her heart.

In this dramatic conclusion to the Shade trilogy, Aura and Zachary’s relationship sizzles as the secrets of the Shift are revealed.

Life can change in an instant, and no one understands that better than Aura. It’s been almost a year since her boyfriend tragically died. She’s finally letting go of Logan’s violet-hued ghost, but not her search to uncover the truth about her past.

As the first in a generation that can see ghosts, Aura is convinced she has a connection to the Shift. She’s trusted Zachary, ever patient and ever by her side, with all that she knows. But when the government threatens his life in an attempt to learn Aura’s secrets, she will stop at nothing to protect herself and the one she loves...even if that means betraying her own heart.

Dangerous to be together. Painful to be apart.

Savannah Colbert knows she broke up with Tristan Coleman for the right reasons. Most of all, to keep from killing him with her new vampire abilities. But try telling her heart. Now, lost in a sea of hostile Clann faces, Sav tries to come to terms with what she's becoming and what that means for her future. And that someone is doing their best to bully her into making a terrible mistake.

Tristan can't believe Sav won't even talk to him. If being apart is her decision, fine. Just don't expect him to honor it. But even as he prepares to fight for the girl he loves, forces beyond their control take them both in directions neither could have foreseen or prepared for.

A reckoning is coming …and not everyone will survive.

I started this book and was immediately drawn into Savannah's world. It was the same way with Crave. Melissa definitely has a way of entrapping you in her stories.

You can't help but to feel bad for Savannah and Tristan. They've been in love with each forever. But there is no safe way that they can be together since Savannah started developing her vampire powers. She drains his energy just by kissing him. Not to mention, the smell of his blood makes her newly developing bloodlust cause havoc. She has good control over the bloodlust, but still, you never know what could happen. Tristan can't seem to understand that Savannah is just trying to keep him safe and ends up kind of mentally torturing her.

So there is all of this drama surrounding Savannah and Tristan. The Clann kids at school are still giving Savannah a hard time, they completely fried the electrical system in her car. Savannah is dealing with living with her dad, drinking blood, and breaking rules. She's made an unexpected friend in Anne's ex. Someone is causing problems between the Clann and the vampires and it's all circling back to Savannah.

Things definitely come to the forefront in this book. There are a ton of things that happen in this book that I didn't see coming. This is a great second book in the series. And it ended on such a cliffhanger, I can't wait to read the third.
