Series: Paranormalcy #3
Publication Date: July 24, 2012
Pages: 385

Evie's paranormal past keeps coming back to haunt her. A new director at the International Paranormal Containment Agency wants to drag her back to headquarters. The Dark Faerie Queen is torturing humans in her poisonous realm. And supernatural creatures keep insisting that Evie is the only one who can save them from a mysterious, perilous fate.

The clock is ticking on the entire paranormal world. And its fate rests solely in Evie's hands.

So much for normal.

This is one of my favorite YA series, right up there with Mortal Instruments and Vampire Academy. So it's sad to see it end but I love the way that it happened. Kiersten tied everything up quite nicely. I have read other series that have left me, severely, hanging.

Evie has faced hard things in the past, things that would have crushed a lesser person. I think the fact that Evie is so resilient and strong is part of her appeal as our main character. She's also funny and she always keeps a positive disposition, while being realistic. I like that she isn't flaky just because she's a teenager. Because I've seen that a lot in YA books and I don't generally care for it.

Overall, I really liked the book. The way that it progressed was really good. Evie is again being manipulated by a lot of the people around her to do what they want her to do. The IPCA is trying to get her to work for them again and they've changed a lot. Not for the better, either. The Light and Dark Courts of the faeries are both trying to use them to meet their own ends. Granted the Unseelie are using a more forceful approach. Reth is still the golden faerie of my heart.

Basically this is a book filled with a lot of hard decisions. Decisions that a seventeen year old should never have to make. Evie does it though. Mainly with grace, humor, and a bit of attitude.

Series: Special Agent Fang #1
Publication Date: March 7, 2011
Reviewer: Amber I.
Rating:Photobucket

Murder, abduction, sparring men, love and heartbreak―welcome to life of Special Agent, Hadley Sloan.

In Milwaukee, Wisconsin, a serial killer has been arrested for the deaths of nine women. This case, however, is far from closed. Two of his victims are alive and time is counting down to discover their whereabouts. Thus, brings in the assistance of the FBI.

Hadley Sloan and Chase Finley might be Special Agents within the Criminal Investigations Department, but what their comrades don’t know is, they’re in love…or that Hadley is a vampire.

Soon, Hadley’s personal life is uprooted and she is left with even more of a mess on her hands when Kellen Boyd, her vampire husband returns to sink his fangs back into her life…

Hadley must juggle the two men in her life, keep her secret hidden, and locate these missing women before it’s too late…

Warning: Explicit sex, ménage à trois.

I loved this book. I read it in one sitting. The sex was amazing! lol but really its my favorite part of this book.

Hadley is an FBI agent and also a vampire. When we first meet her she is getting it on with her fellow FBI agent who also knows what she is. They have been sleeping together for years and I just freaking loved Chase. But our little vamp hasn't exactly spilled all her secrets, like a HUGE one that she has a vampire husband. So as we can see coming from a mile away her two worlds are about to collide.

At first I was like NOOOO! Not a love triangle because honestly I loved both these men. I thought I would be a Chase fan all the way, but once Kellen came into the scene I was torn. Luckily for us it doesn't seem she is going to have to pick one over the other. Hell, she gets the best of both worlds and keeps her two amazingly delicious men! Obviously that road wasn't that easy but yes that is where we ended up, and man oh man am I glad we did. It was freaking HOT!!

Oh I guess there is this case they are working on too. They caught a serial killer but there is still a missing a presumed alive victim out there that they must reach before its too late. While that was interesting and all, I was more Team Sex lets go!!

As with every single Stacey Kennedy book I read, I totally recommend you go out and get this book!

I am sorry to say after writing this review and going to get the link to amazon to share here I seen the book wasn't there. I contacted Stacey and discovered that is has been removed. :( It was a great read!

As an angel of death, Keenan’s job is to collect the souls on his list. He’s carried out his duty for two thousand years and never faltered once. Until he meets Nicole St. James. When the moment of death comes, Keenan hesitates, and instead of taking Nicole, Keenan touches the vampire who’s attacking her.

Cast out of heaven for disobedience, Keenan plummets to earth. Six months later, he finally manages to track Nicole to a bar in Mexico. He’s stunned to discover that the woman he remembers has undergone a dramatic change—she’s become a vampire. And when he realizes that she’s the target of all manner of enemies—other vampires, demons, even shifters—he’ll do whatever it takes to protect her, even if all hell breaks loose…

Keenan an Angel of death always follows orders. He is there to collect souls, but in a dark alley where a school teacher is being attacked by a vampire everything changes!

I freaking loved this book. Keenan was of coarse hot as hell and once he fell from Heaven he was perfect. As soon as he can he is off to find that school teacher and see with his own eyes if she survived. But once he finds her, he is in for a huge surprise. His nice school teacher isn't the women he left bleeding in that alley she is a whole new something else.

Poor Nicole a good women has had her whole freaking world changed. Being a new vampire is never easy but with no one to guide her things got messy. Now she has enemies. It seems the poor girl can not catch a break. There was always someone after her. All she wants to do is survive, she really is not a bad vampire at all.

This book was intense. Nicole should have died in that alley. Death is still on its way for her. But Keenan refuses to let her go. He fell from Heaven for the women, damn it she isn't getting away from him that fast. So together they team up and try to survive and in that time stop a few times for some hot hot sexin! With shifters, vampire hunters, death angels and demons hunting them its not going to be easy.

I love Cynthia's Bound series and I must say this one is just as awesome. I can not wait to jump into the next book.If you are in the mood to go on a wild ride in and out of the bedroom (action was just as intense) then you have found your book!

Jacinda was supposed to bond with Cassian, the "prince" of their pride. But she resisted long before she fell in love with Will—a human and, worse, a hunter. When she ran away with Will, it ended in disaster, with Cassian's sister, Miram, captured. Weighed down by guilt, Jacinda knows she must rescue her to set things right. Yet to do so she will have to venture deep into the heart of enemy territory.

The only way Jacinda can reach Miram is by posing as a prisoner herself, though once she assumes that disguise, things quickly spiral out of her control. As she learns more about her captors, she realizes that even if Will and Cassian can carry out their part of the plan, there's no guarantee they'll all make it out alive. But what Jacinda never could have foreseen is that escaping would be only the beginning....

Loyalties are tested and sacrifices made in the explosive conclusion to Sophie Jordan's Firelight trilogy

I really enjoyed this book. It was fast paced, action packed and you never know what was going to happen. There was never a dull moment in this book and once you read the first page its going to be hard to stop until you know everything that happens.

While I liked this book there was something a little off to me. Its hard to put my finger on it. I think it had to do something about Jacinda and always talking about how much she loved Will and it just seemed to me after all the events that have taken place she would be more focused on other things. I mean we know by now she wants to be with him, but during rescue missions and running for your life and trying to keep everyone alive I just didn't want to hear about it. It came across to me more of a school girl crush then a totally deep down love. But that might just be me,  Plus we all know I love Cassian.

I can't even talk about Cassian though without getting upset. The more I think about it the more mad I get. I loved him. I loved their bond together and thought him and Jacinda would have been great together. I must stop talking about this before I spoil anything.

The story itself was great, I just think I wasn't into the romance of it. Even with all that I still got way into this book. Since its the last in the series, I just had to know how it was all going to end. There were lots of surprises and twists and turns to keep you on the edge of your seat.  We got some much needed answers, a lot of closure and I am sure an ending mostly everyone will be happy with. I am really sad to see this series go. And I kinda wish since not everyone got their happily ever after maybe they will get a story in the future.

Feature and Follow Friday

Thursday, August 23, 2012

Follow Friday is hosted by Parajunkee's View and Alison Can Read

Here is this week's question:

What is the worst cover of a book that you've read and loved?

Amber I. is more into covers than Amber R. is. So when we started talking about this, Amber I. had all the ideas. But we came to a mutual, albeit hard decision. Succubus Revealed by Richelle Mead was a cover that we didn't really enjoy. The series was friggen amazing, of course. But the cover just didn't cut it. Georgina is supposed to be HOT, like smoking! And the cover just wasn't cutting it. Not too mention she didn't even look like the girl that was on the other covers. It was just really underwhelming and not what we pictured Georgina as at all.

So since we are this weeks featured blogger we did a little interview and here it is.

When did you start blogging?
Amber I Started the blog in January 2011 and Amber R. jumped on in May 2011.

What is your favorite part of book blogging?
Meeting all the other bloggers and talking to authors. We love having a group of people that love reading as much as we do. Plus getting to recommend books to other people and having them fall in love with a book just based on our recommendation is amazingly awesome!

What is your favorite book(s)?
This is a toughy, we love so many books. How much time do you have? lol okay okay if we have to pick just a few we'd say anything from Keri Arthur (can't just pick one of her series) Chicagoland Vampire series, Night Huntress series, Morganville Vampire series, Darkest London series, Otherworld series, Highlander series by KMM, Okay we must stop now or else we will just keep going.

What has been the best thing that has happened to you because of book blogging?
There have been a lot of amazing things that have happened due to blogging, but we must say the best thing ever is meeting Rachel Caine and having a few drinks with her. We got to sit there and talk to her and she knew who we were by our blog and it was surreal. If you know us then you know we talk about this moment often. We are still stunned that it happened and will continue talking about it forever!

Thanks so much for stopping by! We always follow back and comment back (But not if you have captcha.) Captcha is so annoying. So yes we will totally move on if you have it. Sorry but its useless and annoying. I promise I am not a robot! :)

See who else is hopping and make some new friends!

Music as Fuel
Guest Post with Kristen

Music is said to whisper to the soul. To rile the inner muse into action and spin thoughts where none existed before. I’ve made playlists for every book I’ve written. Looking back, I can see the songs in the Vampires of Crimson Bay series have served a definite purpose.

In InterVamption, I listed to Pink’s Glitter in the Air (the Live version) and I Don’t Believe You, over and over again. I repeated Robert Pattinson’s Never Think (the unedited version) more times than I care to admit. Those songs became the backdrop for the books. I hear them when I read, even now. InterVamption was surprisingly easy to write. I wrote the 100k novel in four months, and that includes editing time. The music was soft, the writing was smooth—they went hand in hand.

In Vamped Up, I listened to slightly heavier tunes. Bush and Eminem made appearances in the playlist, as well as Stone Sour and Snuff by Slipknot. I needed music to fuel the words. There were many times I struggled with getting the book “just right”. All I had to do was turn on a kick ass song that boiled my blood and the words came out harsh and heavy. Sublime.

Last Vamp Standing, the newest release, was a different beast entirely. Not only did I need the dark and gritty to continue, but I needed finesse. Tying together a series was harder than I thought it’d be. I created a playlist that mixed dark with light. Florence and the Machine and Metallica spoke to me during the fight scenes, or places where the tension was high. During the scenes where I needed to ground my characters and settle issues, I repeated Paolo Nutini, Annie Lennox and David Gray. It was a perfect balance, exactly what the book needed.

As I go back and peruse through the playlists, I realize the songs tell a story. It defines my journey to get through that book. It brings back the struggles I faced while writing, the plot holes and missteps. The songs even remind me of times when I plopped my head on the desk, completely drained, sure the book would fall apart. Only a few minutes later, I took a deep breath and pushed forward, writing some of the best stuff yet.

Do you create playlists for books as you read or write? If you had to choose a theme song for your favorite book, what would it be?

Waiting on Wednesday

Wednesday, August 22, 2012

"Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted at Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

Amber I's Pick:

This is like my favorite YA series ever! I have loved each and every book. I can not believe this will be the 13th book and that all the ones before have been amazing. Sometimes when a series is this long there are some books that just didn't do it for me, but Morganville has always delivered. I freaking love it!!!

 Amber R's Pick:

This is my favorite vamp series right now. It's probably my favorite vamp series ever. I love Merit and Ethan. I love all the houses and the way the vampires are moderated. I love the Chicagoland world that Chloe brings us. I've not been let down yet and I can't wait for the next installments in this series.

Review: Life Cycle by Zoe Winters

Tuesday, August 21, 2012

 Series: Preternaturals #4
Publication Date: August 2012
Pages: 258

Rating:Photobucket
Immortality can be a bitch…

Tamara has lived nearly two thousand years, trapped by a spell of her own creation. Hunted by her enemy and former lover, she knows there is only one man strong enough to release her from the curse. But will Cain honor her death wish, or keep her for himself, whatever the cost?

Two ancient souls. Two weary fighters, torn between love and hate, forced to decide if the other could be worth living for.

Heat Level 3 of 5.
Some sexually explicit content and innuendo.

Oh I have been waiting for Cain's story. A sexy incubus with a bad attitude, can kick some ass and is always pissing people off. That is so the kinda man I want to read about. And he was as yummy as I imagined!!

Cain and Tam have that I hate you but I want to rip your clothes off kinda relationship. They fight and press each others button but they still want to get one another naked. When Tam's past comes knocking on her door, Cain comes in to protect her. And this is where the fun begins.

I don't want to sit here and lay out the whole book. And that is what will happen if I try to just give you a piece of the puzzle. So I won't do it. But this book was amazing! We get to see a lot of the characters from the past books which include the sorcerer Dayne, cat therian Greta, the human Charlee, the Vampire King Anthony, the werewolf Cole, the succubus Jane, the incubus Luc and the witch but is kinda ghostly Anna. See how many awesome paranormals this series has to offer you.

Life Cycle is so far my favorite in the series. Cain and Tam sure know how to heat up the pages. Her wanting death by orgasm's and him wanting her to beg him to keep her just to mess with her mind, turns out a lot different then they ever expected. If you haven't checked out these books yet then you are missing out! I love them.

Broken. I couldn’t think of a better word to describe it. I felt as if I’d been torn to bits, maybe even shredded. I was suffocating, surrounded by a wet tightness of skin and flesh all crusted together. My body was home to excruciating stabs of pain searing about randomly before a final thrust of sheer agony. I couldn’t tell if the source of the pain was within me or if I was being repeatedly sliced open with a knife. Did it matter? I felt as though it was only a matter of seconds before my thoughts would end.
“Cordelia!”

My name. I flinched as the same voice repeated my name again and again. Why? Who was it? It—he—sounded familiar. I heaved as the voice triggered the memory of his face. Then, not being able to stop the bile from traveling up my throat, I gagged and purged, emptying my stomach completely. The next time he muttered my name, his voice was laced with disgust. But his revulsion couldn’t compete with my utter repugnance and disbelief at what he’d done. Him. Someone I had trusted with my life, even though the rule was clear:
Trust No One.

Character Interview
Imogen and Jagger

I have to be honest. I approached this interview with some hesitation, perhaps even a little trepidation. After all, even though I feel I know him a bit through Cordelia, I’ve never experienced Jagger directly. As he sits before me, I can empathize with Cordelia. He is impossibly magnetic, his aura both powerful and dangerous, the only release, a hint of humor gleaming in his silver-gray eyes. I met with him in St. Moritz, just before the start of Faustine’s Integration year.

Are you excited about starting a new year at the Academy?
I am, though I’m not exactly sure what my role will be this year. I guess I’ll find out when I get there.

So, you’re not heading back as the Student Council President?
I wouldn’t think so. That position is usually only awarded for a year. Plus, my time at the academy is officially over.

Why are you going back, then?
Mainly to keep an eye on my brother, Ryker.

And Cordelia?
Yes, hmm. You said that you had some questions from my fans...

I do! Here is one from Sean Sweeney. He wants to know what you got Cordelia for Valentine’s Day.
Myself. However, like any girl, she obviously needed a “token” as well. I got her a little secret something from Harry Winston.

Nice! The next question is about Cordelia as well. Al Kunz, the infamous celeb book blogger, aka The Snake, wants to know what really happened on the slopes. He wants details.
He couldn’t handle the details.

LOL! There you have it, Al! Moving on... Michelle Cable wants to know what you thought when you first saw Cordelia and what you thought of that electrifying kiss.
That she’s stunning is apparent to all who are lucky enough to behold her. I was struck by her beauty as soon as I saw her, when she first arrived at the academy. It was my policy to stay away from demons, though. Every kiss with her is electrifying, but I’m guessing you mean our very first kiss. I was shocked, but immediately realized what had happened.

Too bad that doesn’t happen to humans. Synching sounds unbelievably intimate...
It is, but the realization that one is bound forever to this one being frightening, too. That’s unnatural in the supernatural world.

I can see that. Faustine seems to bridge the gap between the human and the paranormal worlds. My daughter Lauren wants to know what you think of Faustine, and Vickie Boehnlein wants to know if you’re scared of Faustine.
I love Faustine. She’s like a little sister to me. I feel very protective of her, even though I know that she can take care of herself. And yes, I’m scared of her. I’d be stupid not to be. She’s one of the most powerful demons I’ve ever come across.

10. Demons seem to like their food, meat in particular. Lynn O’Dell would like to know if you prefer filet mignon or T-bones?
I’m not a demon, but I do prefer Filet Mignon.

Surprise Post! Amber I. Rocks My Socks

Sunday, August 19, 2012
So since we didn't have anything planned for today. School is starting for Amber I's kids, I've been working a ton. So some days, we don't have a post up. Either way I'm off today and I decided I'd make I post, I'd like to call....

ODE TO AMBER I.

Amber I. has literally built up this blog from the ground. She was already blogging for several months before she invited me on board. She is the leading force behind this blog, I'm just her faithful minion.

So here are some reasons Amber I. rocks, in case you didn't already know.. which you should have because she's amazing.

REASONS WHY AMBER I. ROCKS

  • She has great taste in books. I don't think I've ever read a book that she recommended that I didn't absolutely love.
  • She is hilarious. Seriously. She makes me laugh all the time. And her reviews always have humor in them.
 Holy sexcapades!
  • She's tenacious. She sees something or wants something and she doesn't quit until she accomplishes her goals.
  • She is a hardcore networker. She really should lead a sport called, Extreme Networking. It's intense, seeing her in action.
  • She's honest, extremely honest. You never have to worry about what she really thinks. She's going to tell you.
  • She sings the fast part to Mariah Carey's "Someday" better than anyone else. Even Mariah.
  • She takes me outside of the state. That's almost better than gold. Hell, it is.
  • We're part of Team Icee. She invented it and it's amazing.

  • She always likes the best guys when there is a love triangle involved.

So these are just a few reasons why Amber I. is awesome. There are many more. But if I continue on, I'm just going to be gushing.

Oh yeah, she's totally my book pimp too.

Anyone who reads this should comment why Amber I. is totally awesomesauce!

Warning: An ornery croc discovers he does have a pulse when a hot to trot fox decides to latch on, and never let go. Tongue in cheek humor, sizzling moments and an evil, tiny villain await. Muahahaha.

A career military man, Viktor lives for the next mission – and his collection of weapons -- but a raid on an experimental lab makes him an unwilling protector, mostly because he can’t peel Renee off. A cold blooded croc, he never intended to settle down, but he didn’t count on a foxy lady warming his heart.

The world outside the laboratory was a big scary place. Unsure of how to deal with it, Renee latches onto the biggest, baddest, and sexiest, warrior around. Sharp toothed and with ice in his veins, Viktor’s violent side should have sent her running, but instead, she finds the courage to face her fears –and tame the lizard.

When danger comes knocking, with the intention of turning her lizard into a high priced fashion accessory, will Renee embrace her foxy side and show a croc she’s got what it takes to be his mate?

And will they finally vanquish the evil known as mastermind?

Book order for the Furry United Coalition Series (also known as FUC).
Book One - Bunny And The Bear
Book Two - Swan And The Bear
Book Three - Croc And The Fox

*For complete reader enjoyment, it is recommended you read the books in order.

How does Eve Langlais always do this to me? Every time I pick up one of her books I just want to put the world on hold and just have me and the book world and nothing else. Croc and the Fox was amazing, and its somewhere in my top favorite Eve Langlais books!

Sometimes we don't need a totally kick ass heroine. Sometimes a little kooky and needs to be rescued girl is just fine. Renee was amazing. After being in capture most of her life she is a little timid to people, and she is a little nutty. She is especially scared of the big bad and dangerous sky! Poor girl has been in a cell most of her life. Then Viktor big strong and sexy comes to her rescue. So of coarse she is going to latch on to the poor croc.

I can't even begin to tell you how much I loved this book. I swear I thought the last one in the series was my favorite but no this one stole its place in my book haven. I loved Renee and her crazy ways. I loved how she clinged to the reluctant Viktor and ended up melting his icey insides. Poor Viktor thinks he is too old or she is too innocent or warm blooded and cold blooded can't mix. But once Renee sets her sites on him, she is not going to give up.

This series is a must read. Its always funny and sexy and the stories are just amazing. Every time I read one I am sad to have to wait for another book. Its steamy and has you laughing out loud, a perfect combination!
