Now Available!!

Cupid Painted Blind is a collection of six short stories.

Sweet Little Lies by Liz Schulte - Author of Dark Corners and The Guardian Trilogy
The day Femi caught her first bounty she knew this was it; she found her place in the Abyss. However, one mistake, one act of kindness, one beautifully whispered lie could cost her everything--even her life.

Autumn's Call by Lisa Rayns - Author of The Curse of the Egyptian Goddess
When Autumn realizes death is chasing her, she runs only to be stalled by an unresolved ghost. Is he there to help her? Or does he want retribution for his murder?

Tell a Soul by Olivia Hardin - Author of Witch Way Bends
He’s the dependable one. The strong and steadfast one. Still, there’s one woman who has always turned his firm resolve on end. Langston is surprised beyond belief to find Kristana again, and this time without a husband. Has fate finally given them the chance to be together? Kristana can’t escape her intense attraction for the strange giant Langston, but the murmuring voices in her head are threatening to drive her mad. Can she find a way to trade one torment for another and thereby find true love?

The Siren Sarina by C.G. Powell - Author of Spell Checked
Being a siren is not all that it is cracked up to be, especially when you play with the gods. Sarina, like all good sirens, has a penance for sex and not with just anyone. This time her prey is Ares the god of war and lover to Aphrodite. Not that Sarina minds stepping on the goddess of loves toes, but when Ares gifts her with the powers of a god, Zeus can’t help but to intervene.

Fool Moon by Cait Lavender - Author of Cowboy Moon
All Jack saw when he looked at Carlie was perfection until she ripped out a man's throat. Confused by the pull she had on his heart, he is left with the choice to chase after the love of his life or to be left howling at the Fool Moon.

When Opportunity Haunts by Stephanie Nelson - Author of The Gwen Sparks Series
With an eternity as the Angel of Death before him, not much could get under Dorian Hade's skin--that was until he met Gwen Sparks. She shuts down all of his advances and insists they are just friends. Dorian takes matters into his own hands and tricks Gwen into a romantic weekend away from her ex-boyfriend at a haunted bed and breakfast.

Excerpt From When Opportunity Haunts by Stephanie Nelson

“Dorian,” she breathed against my mouth, placing a hand on my chest.
“For someone who thinks our earlier moment was a mistake you look like you’re more than willing to make it again. You’re attracted to me, Gwen. Nothing and no one in this world should falter us from exploring what that means.”
She watched me for a few moments. “I do like you, but it’s not a good time for this,” she paused. “And I like kissing you, there I said it, but I can’t offer anymore of myself right now. You understand, right?”
“Not really,” I told her honestly. “If you like kissing me, as you say, then can’t you trust those feelings even more?” I ran my hand across her backside, my fingers itching to tear the thin fabric that covered it.

**********************************

I just want to say if you LOVE the Gwen Sparks series as much as I do then you are definitely going to want to check this out. I am in love with Dorian and we got to see everything from his POV. He is even hotter then he was before. This story was just what I needed to get my Dorian fix in!! I still need to read the other short stories but I had to dive into When Opportunity Haunts!!!

"LAUNCH INTO THE GALAXY" Blog Hop and Giveaway

This week marks the re-launch of Heather Hildenbrand’s YA fantasy, Across The Galaxy.

Here’s what Heather says about it:
For me, January marked one year as a published author and to mark that, I wanted to do something special to celebrate how far I’ve come in such a short amount of time. I can think of no better way to celebrate than to show some love to the title that got me here in the first place. Across The Galaxy was my first book and as a result, was also my guinea pig in a lot of ways. Through publishing it, I learned so much and met so many awesome bloggers and readers that I am so grateful for that story and for where it took me. For everything it’s given me, I want to give something back to it. (Yes, I realize I’m referring to my book as if it were a real person. Don’t you do that with the characters inside it? Yeah, I’m not the only crazy here.)

So, I found one of the best cover artists EVER and together we came up with a brand new cover that will basically rock your socks. Not sure? Take a minute. Go stare at the new cover and then come back and finish reading. I’ll wait. It’s worth it.

… Now, with a change this big, we aren’t stopping with just a cover reveal. That’s just not enough. So, we’re also doing an e-book giveaway here and another e-book giveaway on every site participating in the “LAUNCH INTO THE GALAXY” Hop this week so be sure to stop everywhere. In addition to THAT, I am also running a giveaway on my publisher’s site at www.Accendopress.com and another one on my personal site at www.heatherhildenbrand.blogspot.com that will include a signed paperback and a very sleek and sexy, leather Kindle cover. Be sure to check that out! And be sure to leave a comment and let us know what you think of the new cover!

About The Book:

Alina Leone is in hiding.

Her parents are dead, her best friend is a horse, and she can’t return to her home planet of Gliese until the Shadows, the monsters who hunt for her, are found and destroyed.

But they found her first. The same creatures that murdered her parents and forced her to flee to Earth all of those years ago. And they’ll stop at nothing to destroy the only thing standing in their way for universal domination – Alina.

She must find the strength to defeat them, even if it means choosing between victory and the one she was meant to save…

 My Review

I really loved Heathers Dirty Blood series so I jumped on the chance to read this book without reading the description. When I first started this book, I got really nervous once I noticed it was about aliens and other galaxies (I really should have figured this out before reading.) Anyways I kept reading because it was so far so good. And before the middle came around, well I was totally totally HOOKED! I never would have thought I would be in love with a book with "aliens" (it feels weird calling these characters aliens.) but I am really happy that I jumped into this book because like I said I am in love with it.

Across the Galaxy is full of action, mystery, amazingly, beautiful, unique world building and of coarse one of my favorites an awesome romance. The way she has us travel to different worlds, the worlds themselves and the just amazing set of characters will have you totally hooked in this book. Its just one of the rare books you don't get to see often and you will be sitting around thinking about for some time after you've finished reading it.

This is one of those reviews I do not want to tell you too much in. I want you to be like me and be surprised. I can promise you, you will really really like it, if not love it. If you read YA Paranormal books like I do then this is for you.

Walking with Shadows Review

Walking with ShadowsWalking with Shadows

by

Giselle regains consciousness and is horrified to discover she has been asleep for nine weeks. She was already aware that she was carrying a very special baby who was to be the first of a new race of vampires, but she is shocked to find how her pregnancy is progressing. Around her, the underworld is in turmoil. Vampires battle with creatures of darkness and with other vampires, and few are entirely what they seem. More confusing still, those who appeared to be totally evil may have a streak of goodness in them, and those who appeared to be Giselle’s friends may have a darker purpose of their own. Almost anyone, it seems, can be changed and turned, except possibly Ysoriel the Archangel and the goddess Lilith, and Giselle cannot be sure that even they are interested only in her welfare.

The only certainty is that it will all become very much worse before it begins to get better – if anything ever gets better for Giselle.

My Thoughts
This storyline has potential. It's definitely nothing that I've ever read or heard of before. There is a lot going on here. Giselle has woken up and she is way more pregnant then she expected to be. Things are progressing faster than usual. The baby she is carrying is special. Alex is plotting against Giselle. But there are other forces that are plotting against Giselle and Alex.

I have to say that this book was hard for me to read. It wasn't concise. The story line wasn't really developed. Meaning, that there weren't a lot of details where there should have been. With so much going on in this book, I feel that there really should have been more explanation. Also, Giselle and Alex seemed like petulant children. It just wasn't my cup of tea, so to speak. I think other people might love it but it isn't a book that I would remember.

Blood Bound-A Mercy Thompson Review

Friday, February 24, 2012

Blood Bound (Mercedes Thompson, #2)

Blood Bound (Mercy Thompson #2)

by Patricia Briggs

Review by Amber R.

Under the rule of science, there are no witch burnings allowed, no water trials or public lynchings. In return, the average law-abiding, solid citizen has little to worry about from the things that go bump in the night. Sometimes I wish I was an average citizen...
Mechanic Mercy Thompson has friends in low places-and in dark ones. And now she owes one of them a favor. Since she can shapeshift at will, she agrees to act as some extra muscle when her vampire friend Stefan goes to deliver a message to another of his kind.
But this new vampire is hardly ordinary-and neither is the demon inside of him.

My Thoughts

I can't believe it took me so long to read these books. I feel ashamed of myself. This second book was better than the first by far and the first was pretty awesome. I know that a lot of you have read this series and a lot of you haven't. I'm going to try to review this with out giving too much away.

Everything in this books gets elaborated on a lot more. We're starting to learn a little bit more about the fae and we learn a lot about the vampires. Stefan asks Mercy to do him a favor. Little did she know that this favor was going to turn into a whole lot more. There is a vampire demon hybrid on the loose and he's causing havoc all over the Tri-Cities. Mercy has to meet with the seethe, Stefan is on trial and his memory was changed by the demon. All kinds of hoopla ensues while trying to hunt down this killer. The werewolves get involved because it's Adam's territory and one of the werewolves gets badly injured. It's seriously a hot mess.

I loved this book. There were times that I was absolutely terrified. I kid you not. I was scared. There were times when I just wanted to hug Adam and make him love me. I'm afraid I'm jumping on Amber I's bandwagon here. Adam is absolutely dreamy. I love Mercy, her character is awesome. She's bad ass and sarcastic. Who could ask for more? I love Stefan and Sam. Although, I want Sam to back off Mercy so her and Adam can get together. Haha. Hopefully I get what I want. I'm on to the third book. I can't wait to read it and share my thoughts.

Top 5: With Talk Supe

Thursday, February 23, 2012

I think the title pretty much speaks for itself. But if you want to know, this post will feature some of our favorite bloggers and we will get to know more about them. They pick 5 categories out of many and pick their top 5 answers.

Today's Blogger's Being Featured are:

Cimmaron & Braine

About Talk Supe: We're cousins who share a passion for reading, especially if the novel has vampires, werewolves, fae, sorcery or anything paranormal. We would constantly text each other back and forth to talk about the current books we were reading. Then one day we asked ourselves, "Why don't we start a blog and write about the books we read?" We honestly did not have a lot of expectations with Talk Supe. We just figured we could express our thoughts and feelings about the books we read and hopefully some folks would find it useful or entertaining. Through blogging we've been able to discover book series and author's we may have not discovered on our own. It's so great to see hundreds or even thousands of people feel so passionate about reading, especially paranormal or urban fantasy. Before blogging it felt like not so many people understood our obsession about were, vamps, and fae. Now we know that we aren't alone!!

Evernight Review

Evernight (Evernight #1)

327 pages Published February 10th 2009 by HarperTeen
Bianca wants to escape.

She's been uprooted from her small hometown and enrolled at Evernight Academy, an eerie Gothic boarding school where the students are somehow too perfect: smart, sleek, and almost predatory. Bianca knows she doesn't fit in.

Then she meets Lucas. He's not the "Evernight type" either, and he likes it that way. Lucas ignores the rules, stands up to the snobs, and warns Bianca to be careful—even when it comes to caring about him.

"I couldn't stand it if they took it out on you," he tells Bianca, "and eventually they would."

But the connection between Bianca and Lucas can't be denied. Bianca will risk anything to be with Lucas, but dark secrets are fated to tear them apart . . . and to make Bianca question everything she's ever believed.

 My Thoughts

Again, there may be spoilers in this review. Its one of those things you can not get around.

I really liked this book. BUT yes there is a but I did not like how the first half and the second half went. In the first half we know nothing truly of what Bianca is or her parents or Evernight school. There is never any hint to it at all. Then BANG out of nowhere we hear the freaking word vampire every other sentence. There was no build up or shock we just suddenly find ourselves in a vampy world. Her parents just walk around drinking blood her friends talk about their lives hundreds of years ago but the first half of the book was NOTHING! It just did not build up to it and it felt forced and faked. So this is why I took off so many stars. I enjoy books with good lead ups or being surprised with the narrator but this wasn't the case at all.

What I did like was Lucas and Bianca. We all know Bianca has her own secrets but when we find out Lucas has his we are totally floored. Plus they have this starcrossed lover thing going. I really did love the relationship. We also get some other fun characters like Vic who is just a little wild and fun to read about. I think now that the vampire part is out of the bag the other books will be more enjoyable. I just did not like how completely opposite the first half and second half are.
