What kind of assassin works pro bono?

It’s hard to be a badass assassin when a giant is beating the crap out of you. Luckily, I never let pride get in the way of my work. My current mission is personal: annihilate Mab Monroe, the Fire elemental who murdered my family. Which means protecting my identity, even if I have to conceal my powerful Stone and Ice magic when I need it most.

To the public, I’m Gin Blanco, owner of Ashland’s best barbecue joint. To my friends, I’m the Spider, retired assassin. I still do favors on the side. Like ridding a vampire friend of her oversized stalker—Mab’s right-hand goon who almost got me dead with his massive fists.

At least irresistible Owen Grayson is on my side. The man knows too much about me, but I’ll take my chances. Then there’s Detective Bria Coolidge, one of Ashland’s finest. Until recently, I thought my baby sister was dead. She probably thinks the same about me. Little does she know, I’m a cold-blooded killer . . . who is about to save her life.

Third book and still going awesome!!! Before we even get into anything else may I say OWEN!!!! Oh my goodness I jumped Teams so fast I can't even believe it. You know in Spider's Bite I was really rooting for Donovan, and maybe even a little in Web of Lies. But by the end of book 2 I was glad to see the mofo was going away. And in book 3 I am super glad he did not come back. I just freaking LOVED Owen. What a perfect match!

Venom was amazing. All the characters we love our back and of course nothing is going easy. For a retired assassin Gin still does a lot of killing. The only down side is well she isn't getting paid. I don't want to go into the whole plot but just be prepared for awesomeness!!

I can't believe the risk Gin took in this book and I am scared of what that'll mean for her and those close to her. Finn kicked some major ass this time around (I love him), Bria is an interesting addition and I can't wait to see how that all goes. Lots of revelations and I loved her dreams just so I could get a good look at her past. Then there is OWEN! Sexy, bad ass and well I am in LOVE!  So much freaking awesomeness in one book. Gin is a killing machine but a totally loveable character.

This series is so addicting. Once I started book 1 I was hooked. I haven't read anything else since. And I am not about to change that at all. Here I come Tangled Threads!.

This is going on the list of the "Best Series I've Read All Year". I don't have this list yet but I'm going to start one soon. I just feel so bad that they were published in 2010 and I'm just now finding out about them. Better late than never though, right? Anyhow, after Gin killed Tobias in the last book things are taking a change in her personal life. For instance, her baby sister Bria is not dead like she thought. In fact she the newest member on the Ashland police force. And she's dogged and determined. And kind of a bad ass in her own right. Of course, she doesn't know who Gin is. And Gin has no plans to enlighten her.

Donovan is finally out of the picture and Owen is in. Let me just say that Owen is hot and strong and awesome and smart and funny and sincere. And I absolutely love him. Now let me also say this, I'm so beyond sick of listening to Gin complain about Donovan. She just boned him a couple times, she never actually had a relationship with him. Every time she compares Owen to Donovan I just roll my eyes. It's so annoying and completely unnecessary.

Something else that bugs me is that whenever she talks about Mab being the strongest elemental and how her mother was the strongest ice elemental. She always says she never know of a stronger ice elemental and her mother couldn't even defeat Mab. I get where Gin is coming from, Mab is the big bad. She's ruling Ashland and kicking ass. But when Mab killed her mother Gin was 13 and sheltered. Of course she wouldn't have known anyone stronger than her mother at that point. It's just a little thing but it bugs me.

I love how efficient Gin always is. I like the descriptions of her getting ready to go out and kill someone. Plus she's just a really good assassin. I always like how she's describing things that her marks are doing and she thinks or says, "sloppy, sloppy, sloppy", it makes me laugh. I loved this book as much as the other two. I'm already into book four. I'm not going to be able to stop reading or loving these books. They're amazing.

 Series Reading Order:

  1. I love Owen too. Donovan drove me nuts I didn't like him at all.

    1. Donovan is a douche. I hope we never see him again.

    2. Donovan is a complete douche. I'm so sick of him. I can't wait to read more in this series.

  2. There is a big advantage to discovering a series late: you don't have to wait this long to read the next book, you can glom for a while :)
Glad you enjoy them, and I should also start making end-of-year-lists!

    1. Yes I love it. I hate waiting. I need to start making my list too. Damn this year is flying by.
