Old habits die hard. And I plan on murdering someone before the night is through.

Killing used to be my regular gig, after all. Gin Blanco, aka the Spider, assassin-for-hire. And I was very good at it. Now, I’m ready to make the one hit that truly matters: Mab Monroe, the dangerous Fire elemental who murdered my family when I was thirteen.

Oh, I don’t think the mission will be easy, but turns out it’s a bit more problematic than expected. The bitch knows I’m coming for her. So now I’m up against the army of lethal bounty hunters she hired to track me down. She also put a price on my baby sister’s head. Keeping Bria safe is my first priority. Taking Mab out is a close second.

Good thing I’ve got my powerful Stone and Ice magic — and my irresistible lover Owen Grayson — to watch my back. This battle has been years in the making, and there’s a chance I won’t survive. But if I’m going down, then Mab’s coming with matter what I have to do to make that happen.

I love this series. I love almost everything about these series. I feel like I've covered them fully in the other reviews I've done so far. So I'm going to give you some major points in this book for me.

Numero Uno: Gin is totally kick ass. Seriously, I always wanted to be in the CIA/FBI when I was younger (too many murder mystery books). Now I want Gin to train me to be an assassin. I want her to be my Fletcher. Can this happen? That would be awesome. I love the way that Jennifer describes her ritual getting ready to go out and get her murder on. Dressing in black, getting her knives ready, etc. I love how Gin is always kicking ass and taking names. She's vicious and hard and a smart ass when she's out killing and I like those qualities.

Two: I'm sick of Donovan. But I'll tell you more why in book six. A little suspense is good for ya. Lol.

Three: I love Finn and Bria and Jojo and Sophie and Roslyn and everyone. I love all of these side characters. I love this world that has been created that I can just get lost in. Every time I read one of these books I just want barbeque so bad. I want to go to the Pork Pit and sit at the counter and get some grub. Jennifer just creates this world that you can get enveloped in. It's amazing and it's a true gift.

We get a lot of answers in this book to questions that were posed in the first four books. I really love this series and I can't wait to delve into the next installments of this series.

My first suggestion when reading these books is to space them out. I am in love with them but if you read them all in a row like me, well the back story tends to just drive you insane! I think if you space them out you may not notice it that much.

The 5th installment Spider's Revenge is just as kick ass and action packed as the rest of the series. It's finally come down to Gin must take out Mab there is just no getting around it now especially when Gins true identity is revealed. Now everyone Gin knows and loves must go into hiding until Mab is taken care of.

Then there is Owen, you know I freaking thought I loved him before but somehow he surprises me and makes me love him that much more. And what is more awesome is that Gin has finally figured it out too. And oh man when he got into that fight he seriously could not get more hotter!! mmmmm

I am glad to see Finn and Bria's relationship finally blossom even though there timing really really sucked and risked lives very unnecessarily. I am still really interested in seeing how it goes.We even get to put together all those little puzzle pieces Fletcher has left behind for us.

It was just a great read. The assassin has a full army of bounty hunters wanting her head. Her true identity is discovered, Bria's life is in danger, we find out what happened all those years ago to Sophia. So much going on, so many pieces to the puzzle being solved and more things happening that just keep you on the edge of your seat!

I am so happy I found this series. Each book always kicks ass, the characters are always surprising me in good ways and I am just in love! One of my new favorite Urban Fantasies ever!!

 Series Reading Order:

  1. You two should read the novella that comes after this one, Thread of Death. It reads like a really long epilogue.

  2. I want to read this not the YA! From your reviews it all sounds sexy and exciting. Good job Ambers, happy thanksgiving!

AI - how's the libray gig? Did you get it? Been a long time since we chatted
AR - my dad was raving about Song of Fire & Ice, now I want to catch up so he has someone to talk about it with.

    1. You have to read this series. Its awesome.

Oh and I went on 2 interviews and got 2 rejection letters. :( Its so annoying. But I am still looking.

  3. Another great review ladies, thank you. And I do agree, space them out, because you are told the same things over and over again.

    1. I took a break. Its been a while since I read them. Maybe a month? I can't remember. lol But I needed it. Amber R. plowed through them. I am going to read the next book soon. I needed some space but I am anxious to get back to it now.

  4. I skimmed your reviews for fear of spoilers because I'm going to read this one really soon but it still received your stamps of approval so that's saying something! I'm having a hard time concentrating on my current reads because I want to read this next installment soooo badly!! LOL

  5. I had the first book in this series in my hand the last time that I was at Barnes and Noble, and I'm SO mad that I put it back and didn't get it!!! It is on my list to buy next time I'm out :))
