Cassandra Palmer can see the future and communicate with spirits—talents that make her attractive to the dead and the undead. The ghosts of the dead aren’t usually dangerous; they just like to talk…a lot.

The undead are another matter.

Like any sensible girl, Cassie tries to avoid vampires. But when the bloodsucking mafioso she escaped three years ago finds Cassie again with vengeance on his mind, she’s forced to turn to the vampire Senate for protection.

The undead senators won’t help her for nothing, and Cassie finds herself working with one of their most powerful members, a dangerously seductive master vampire—and the price he demands may be more than Cassie is willing to pay...

This book had the potential to be awesome. The story line is very unique and the world was one I wanted to get lost in. But I just wasn't. I kept waiting for the big twist, the big bang to pull me into this book and not let me go and it really just never happened. Plus it was an information over load kinda book. There was just way too much time talking about who was who and what creature did what, what happened in her past and just way too much info and not enough action.

I liked the book, and I am probably going to continue the series (but I will be borrowing from my library for the second book) It really has the potential to be a great story but it just needs more story, more action, more character interaction and not so many descriptions.

There was some action but it was at the end and it happened so fast, I was a little confused. I must have missed something when they were planning or something because there were a few moments I just did not understand at all what was going on.

Okay so this is not a glowing review, but you know me I really won't finish a book without liking it. So you see I did like it, but I was just unsatisfied at how it all played out. I am hoping book 2 will be better, because like I said this really does seem like a neat world and could be something I fall in love with.

  1. Awesomesauce review! *high five* I was beginning to think that I was the only one who didn't fall in love this book. I agree with you, it was way too much description and not enough action. And I couldn't really connect with the characters either, it felt like something was missing. Not to mention that there didn't really happened much for the first part of the book and then bam! at the end, it happened so much it made my head spin. But you're right, there is potential here... I'm looking forward to your reviews for the next books in the series, maybe I'll pick it up again too.

  2. I agree with you I had the same feeling, but I think the books improve as you progress in the series. Well I still need to read the fourth one now. I hope it will be the same for you.

  3. I thought the first two books were just okay, the third was better, and the last two rocked! I've read the fourth book twice. Really loved it. Pritkin and Cassie are two of my all-time favorite characters.

  4. I plan to read the next books at some point. I am not really in a rush to read them. Even now I can barely remember what happened in this book. The story just did not stay with me. So we'll see when or if I decide to read book 2.
