My name is Chloe Saunders and my life will never be the same again.
All I wanted was to make friends, meet boys, and keep on being ordinary. I don't even know what that means anymore. It all started on the day that I saw my first ghost - and the ghost saw me.
Now there are ghosts everywhere and they won't leave me alone. To top it all off, I somehow got myself locked up in Lyle House, a "special home" for troubled teens. Yet the home isn't what it seems. Don't tell anyone, but I think there might be more to my housemates than meets the eye. The question is, whose side are they on? it's up to me to figure out the dangerous secrets behind Lyle House...before its skeletons come back to haunt me.
I absolutely loved this book. I finished this and immediately started reading the second one even though I wasn't going too. When the book first starts out you get the idea that Chloe isn't a normal little girl. But then she grows up and there are no signs of anything odd. Until she starts seeing ghosts that is. She gets shipped off to the creepy Lyle House. And she gets a tidy little mental disorder. But things aren't that simple.
I really like Chloe as a main character. She's very level headed. I like that she can see the end resolution. It sucks that she was put in Lyle House but she's going to do what she needs to do to get out. That is, until things stop adding up. Slowly she starts to realize that things aren't what they seem and the other kids at Lyle House aren't "normal" kids.
I have to throw in here that I really like Derek. A lot. I think he's a good guy and I felt bad for him a lot in this book. I actually like him a lot better than I like Simon. Neither one are really a love interest, which I really like. Although Simon and Chloe do seem to like each other some. But they have a lot more to be focused on than trying to date each other.
Chloe is a necromancer. She gets betrayed by someone very closer to her. She's dealing with a lot of stuff and trying to make some normalcy out of her crazy life. This book is amazing. It's very fast paced, there wasn't a moment when I felt like I was forcing myself to read on. I can't wait to see where this series is going to go.
