If you had met me a few weeks ago, you probably would have described me as an average teenage girl — someone normal. Now my life has changed forever and I’m as far away from normal as it gets. I’m a living science experiment — not only can I see ghosts, but I was genetically altered by a sinister organization call the Edison Group. What does that mean? For starters. I'm a teenage necromancer whose powers are out of control: I raise the dead without even trying. Trust me, that is not a power you want to have. Ever.

Now I’m running for my life with three of my supernatural friends - a chaming sorcerer, a cynical werewolf, and a disgruntled witch - and we have to find someone who can help us before the Edison Group finds us first. Or die trying.

I finished this book in mere hours. If that doesn't tell you how good it is, I don't know what will. I couldn't stop until I was done. And I'm writing this review wishing I was reading the third. Kelley Armstrong is an amazing story teller, with one series she is easily becoming one of my favorite authors.

Chloe is on the run with Derek, Simon, and believe it or not, Tori in this book. Chloe and Tori were able to break out of the Edison Group and meet up with the boys. However, it wasn't before they were able to get some information from Dr. Davidoff before leaving. Well Chloe got the information but we're not going to split hairs. We find out more information about supernaturals and that Chloe and the others were genetically modified. The group is trying to get to Simon and Derek's dad's friends home outside of the city. They are constantly trying to stay under the radar. Chloe and Derek actually get split up from Simon and Tori at one point.

Chloe is getting even better with each book. I even kinda like Tori in this one. I actually really like all the characters in these books. I have to say that Simon is my least favorite so far. I don't know if any one else felt like this. But it's true. Don't get me wrong, he's still important to the story, he's just not my favorite. There are all kinds of things going on in this book. Derek and Chloe run into a couple of rogue werewolves. Chloe is actually reanimating corpses while she's sleeping. It's nuts.

This book is just as action packed as the first. I actually felt like I was living on the edge with them. It's so nerve wracking and Kelley puts you right in the middle of the story. These are the ways that you know that the book was written amazingly. I love series like these. I really hope that if you guys haven't read this series you do check it. I think you'll really like it. I know I love it and I can't wait to get my hands on the third book.

  1. I really liked the first two books in this series as well-- so fast-paced and the kids' powers are cool and unique. I still haven't read the third one... must get to it soon, along with a billion other books. Glad you enjoyed it. :)

  2. So glad you loved tho! I like this better than Darkest Rising LOL - Braine

  3. Loved your review! I agree about Simon, I like him but he's not my favourite! Chloe and Derek are with Liz and Tori coming a close second, I love Tori's one-liners! This whole series was amazing!
