  • What is your Creature? Vampire

  • Name? Alexandria Ceara "Vivian" McAndrews

  • Is your creature from a specific part of the world? She was born in Ireland, and changed to a vampire in an English farmhouse in the late 15th century.

  • Physical Description? She's about 5'7'' tall, curvy and toned, long copper-red hair, green eyes, pale skin.

  • What book or series does this creature appear in? She is the main character in the V V Inn series. The first book, Vampire Vacation, is narrarted solely from her point of view. The second and third books in the series are relayed from multiple points of view, with her voice being one in six.

  • What is the history of this creature? How where they created, where do they come from? She was a young wife in Ireland before she caught the eye of a wealthy traveler, who also happened to be a vampire. He killed her husband and abducted her, keeping her prisoner and raping her for years. He changed her into a vampire six years into her confinement. She escaped two decades later and went into hiding, swearing she would never be a monster like the man who made her.

  • What are their strengths? She is a descendent of an ancient strain of vampires thought to be long extinct, called manipulators. She can project physical illusions to anyone, even her fellow undead, and deceive anyone with her mind, including taking control of them. She has the normal gifts of vampires -- superior stamina, strength, and speed -- but it is her manipulator trait that causes her hunted by her own kind, deemed too powerful to live.

  • What are their weaknesses? All vampires are semi-immortal, meaning they live a very long time but can be killed. In addition to beheading and having their heart cut out, they can also be confined by silver and burned by the sun. Vivian's particular weakness is her husband husband, she will do anything to keep him safe.

  • How long can they live? No time limit, they just have to avoid a true death, one that requires a be-heading, heart removal and/or burned up in the sun. I've always thought the term immortal meant something couldn't be killed, no matter what. Since that's not the case with my creations they think of themselves as semi-immortal.

  • What do they need to survive? Blood. But as they get older they require less and less and can "feed" in other ways, like from sexual energy, pain, or fear.

  • If they shift shape tell us how and why? Each vampire inherits different skills from their maker. They can assume another form if their maker had that ability, or even turn to mist if the trait is in their line. Vivian cannot do those things, but other vampires in her seethe, or vampire family, can. The shift is controlled mentally, not by the moon or as a reaction to stress.

  • What are some unique characteristics that set them apart from humans? They don't physically age, the liquid diet eventually slims them down, their hair grows slower, and they have the ability to heal faster than a human.

  • Are they made or born? They are made. The ritual involves draining all the human's blood and allowing them to drink from a vampire before their heart gives its last beat. This last detail has lead for personal introspection on whether or not they have souls, since they never truly died. The maker is responsible for their vampire offspring and must make sure they are in control of baser needs before allowing the new vampire freedom.

  • Your Creature VS Common Folk Lore tell us the differences and similarities? Mine cast reflections, do not need to drain a human to death for survival, have no reaction to garlic, do not need to sleep on or carry their homeland soil with them, and can drink other liquids besides blood.  My vampires do not sleep in a coffin and are not rendered unconscious when the sun rises. They need to feed on blood, have an aversion to the sun, and can be confined by silver. They're also organized into a vampire hierarchy with a ruling class of Ancients who form a Tribunal. These Ancients have rules of conduct and preservation of their race, including enforcers who are sanctioned to destroy vampires deemed rogue.

Books in the VV Series:

Meet Vivian. She's a 580-year-old vampire who exudes sex, has a talent for drama, and is passionate about two things: her human husband, Rafe, and their resort for the undead. Her ability to project physical illusions has created the perfect vacation spot-a dark, isolated Alaskan hideaway where visitors can have their wildest fantasies come true. Vivian knows the best performance requires perfect timing, but the powerful vamp is put to the test when she discovers a corpse in a locked guestroom minutes before the next arrivals. Always cool-headed, Rafe hides the body, convinced he and Vivian can find the culprit without disturbing their guests. Juggling the increasingly outrageous demands of their customers while tracking a killer isn't easy. Will their poking and prodding give them the answers they need, or will it uncover secrets Vivian would kill to protect?

Vivian thinks she can control every aspect of a deadly game with her usual manipulations… but what if she can’t? Journey along, in this next installment of The V V Inn series, for a wild ride as the tale is told through the eyes of all her new seethe members.

Seven vampires and seven werewolves pay to hunt a supernatural criminal across the cold, vast grounds of an Alaskan resort. The one to catch her, and live through the encounter, will increase their power by feasting on hers.

The tiny vampire they track is more than she appears, however. To escape a fate of ten years in silver chains, she'll do anything to survive the weeklong excursion. This time, the darkness holds more than just the stinging bite of the Arctic—it holds death.

In this much-anticipated third installment of the V V Inn series, our sexy couple journeys to Argentina, bringing half their seethe along for the ride. Vivian and Rafe venture into the Seat of Darkness, the Tribunal's base, to uncover who's plotting against them and why. From a cold, windy island off the southern Argentine coast, to the decadence of Buenos Aires, the group has plenty to keep their attention--seductive twins, deadly games, and a bunch of bloodsucking fiends who hate our much-loved, despotic innkeeper enough to see her dead. Asa and Jon remain in Alaska, to manage the famous inn as it opens doors to a new type of guest. Visiting werewolves go on their first exploration of the property, looking for big game--hormones run high and shots ring out across the tundra. Soon, the hunters become the hunted and the peaceful getaway resembles a battleground. How many will survive the next five days and will they ever be the same again? Warning: This book contains very explicit sex scenes and is not intended for readers under 18.

About the Author

In the spring of 2008, C.J. started undergoing some medical tests for some issues she’d been ignoring for a few years. We’ve all done it
ignored a problem we hoped would go away because our lives were too busy to give attention to some minor inconvenience.

Tests led to more tests and answers started to slowly trickle in. To keep her mind off of all that she couldn’t do and to focus on what she
could do, she started writing in February 2009. A lover of books for decades, she owes her husband, Pete, her first writing partner, and many close friends a big hug of thanks for thinking she should even attempt to write a book.

In five months C.J. managed to: Write her first 90,000-word Urban Fantasy novel, join several writing guilds and writing sites, start a fan page on Facebook, enter several writing contests and become a finalist in most of them, attend her first National writing conference and learn
a lot about how to write. Who knew it could take so much work and still be so much fun?

C.J. is represented by Kristin Lindstrom of
Lindstrom Literary Management. Her publisher is Red Hot Publishing, a small press dedicated to preserving the author's rights.
