There is need. And then there is Fate...
Being destined to become some kind of supernatural electrical outlet isn't exactly awesome--especially when Alexandria's "other half" is everywhere she goes. Seth's in her training room, outside her classes, and keeps showing up in her bedroom--so not cool. Their connection does have some benefits, like staving off her nightmares of the tragic showdown with her mother, but it has no effect on what Alex feels for the forbidden, pure-blooded Aiden. Or what he will do--and sacrifice--for her.
When daimons infiltrate the Covenants and attack students, the gods send furies--lesser gods determined to eradicate any threat to the Covenants and to the gods, and that includes the Apollyon... and Alex. And if that and hordes of aether-sucking monsters didn't blow bad enough, a mysterious threat seems willing to do anything to neutralize Seth, even if that means forcing Alex into servitude... or killing her.
When the gods are involved, some decisions can never, ever be undone.
Pure totally took me by surprise. Two of my friends that read it did not love it so I kept putting it off. When I finally decided to take the plunge and read it, I found myself pleasantly surprised. I think I read the book in 2 sittings.
I have a thing for that forbidden romance and I love the way Alex and Aidan want each other but they seriously can't give into their feelings. I find that just hot hot hot!! I like their hidden moments and they way they must keep what they feel a secret. Even though Aidan does try and back it off for Alex sake and that made room for Seth to come in, I am not giving up hope. I am a total Aidan girl.
When I started this book I figured I was going to have some kind of love triangle and I was determined not to like Seth. I still don't trust Seth but I found he wasn't so bad. It wasn't one of those books I wanted to throw across the room or anything.
If you haven't read Half Blood I totally think you should. I find myself totally drawn into this world. If you are a YA lover then you should really enjoy this series. I am so happy I already have Deity so I can jump back into this world!
