Half-werewolf, half-Aedh Risa Jones can enter the realm between life and death, and she can see the Reapers who collect the souls of the dead. Now, she is using her gifts—and the investigative know-how of a man who broke her heart—to find a cabal searching for the power to control time, reality, and fate. And this is besides her work for the Vampire Council, half of whom want her dead.

But for now the Council needs her alive. Someone is killing blood-whore addicted vampires, and Risa must find the guilty party. If she succeeds, she may finally convince the council to lift the execution order on her life. But before she succeeds, she must first survive.

I love Risa and I am totally in love with her new world. But she drives me crazy with this whole Lucien thing. I mean she has to see there is something going on with him. Why she continues to see him is just beyond me. She is so smart in other areas of her life that this just totally drives me crazy!!

But if you are like me and love Azriel well then you are going to love some of the things that happen in this book. I won't give it away but I was like YES YES and MORE PLEASE! lol Although nothing is totally solved with them and the sexual tension is still there.

As with all Keri Arthur books there is a lot of action and adventure and crazy mysteries to solve. Risa has so many things on her plate. She has to find the keys to heaven and hell, track down a serial killer, figure out whats going on in the vamp club, and keep herself and her friends alive long enough to do all this. Darkness Devours is an awesome addition to the Dark Angel series and these books are really something to check out. And if you haven't yet you need to start at the beginning and read the Riley Jenson series. Keri Arthur is one of my most favorite writers and her books are not to be missed!

I have some major objections with this book. More Risa and Azriel, less everyone else. That's it. But it's a huge problem. I get that she brought her old flame, Jak, into the mix. She needed his expertise and for him to ask around surrounding the issues for the keys to the gates. I get it. He could ask questions to people who she wouldn't get any answers. He's a mean to an end. Lucien, however, is a whole different story. She needs to drop him like a bad habit. The fact that she's still letting him hang around makes me want to shake her. I know she's fictional but still. No penis is worth the crap he tries to pull. Not to mention, it's seriously looking like he knows a lot more than he's letting on.

Risa keeps getting pushed further and further in with Hunter and the counsel. She's getting pushed further and further in with Aedh. She's really stretched thin at this point. Not too mention she has to worry about her Aedh father who sees her as a tool to get what he wants. I absolutely love all of Keri Arthur's books, this is no exception. I'm already in anticipation for the next part of this series which come out in November. I really just need more Azriel action. It's imperative for me to stay alive.

  2. I can't wait to read this one!! Unfortunately, it's going to wait a bit longer. Stupid prior commitments. :( Although, I heard that this book is a little off-topic than the other installments. A lot of the reviews I've read haven't been as positive as yours. Guess I'll have to wait and see!

    1. I can totally see how some might not like it as much. The other 2 books I was totally in love with this one not as much. If not for a one big thing it actually might have gotten 3 stars. But it is still a good read.
