Our journey began in fire... Gideon Cross came into my life like lightning in the darkness-beautiful and brilliant, jagged and white-hot. I was drawn to him as I'd never been to anything or anyone in my life. I craved his touch like a drug, even knowing it would weaken me. I was flawed and damaged, and he opened those cracks in me so easily... Gideon knew. He had demons of his own. And we would become the mirrors that reflected each other's most private wounds... and desires. The bonds of his love transformed me, even as I prayed that the torment of our pasts didn't tear us apart..

Okay I am one of those that have read 50 Shades and yes this book is A LOT like it. Its not a total copy but there are a lot of the same situations through out the entire book. It didn't totally upset me or anything though. But honestly I just don't think these kinda books are my thing. I guess there is the appeal of reading about a young crazy hot guy who is a billionaire, dysfunctional, no one else can break through his barriers except our heroine and is a sex god! I get it but I would rather he had some fangs or gets nice and furry during the full moon, but that is just me!

The sex in the book is hot! I mean its freaking hot hot hot!! But the relationship between Gideon and Eva is just tiring. I am sorry but after only knowing a man for a week and having to deal with all the crap would just not be worth it. I think after just a few weeks he almost rapes her in their sleep. And after what happened to her in her past its just unbelievable that she could get over that, I don't care how hot the guy is! Any why is their always some old flame in these books to come barging in and causing trouble. The dinner party made me so mad! And she just got over it too fast. Sometimes when she ran, I was like you're an idiot but then the things she decided to not run for I was like you're an idiot.

It was an okay read if you are into these kind of books. I suggest reading this or 50 Shades. Reading them both might make you compare all the similarities.

  1. Sad you didn't like it as much but that's one of the perks of reading and networking with other bloggers, adds perpective on things.

I found this comment funny though: but I would rather he had some fangs. LOL

    Happy weekend love!

    1. Lol well I guess I'm just really stuck in my genre of books. This just wasn't my thing. Still great sex though, always a plus!

  2. It seems that I liked it just a bit more than you did, I wanted to like it a lot, but I just couldn't like Gideon.
    I loved Fifty tho.

    1. I don't think people should read them both. It just to easy to compare.

  3. Interesting review. I heard that this one was similar to Fifty Shades of Grey too and have been tempted to give it a go. But you're right, I prefer it when my men wolf or vamp out instead. LOL I think the Fifty trilogy will tie me over for quite a while still. Maybe in a few more months I'll consider reading this... I also agree with you that erotica characters just move past stuff way to fast. Who can forgive rape? I mean, SERIOUSLY!

    1. She was a rape victim as a child so when he almost does this in his sleep was just too much for me. And if you've just read 50 then I wouldn't read this for a while. I'm just not crazy into these kinda books. I need me some paranormal.

  4. lol personally I loved this book but I can see your point too. I didn't read 50 shades of gray, maybe that's why I liked this one so much! but publishers are making more books like this, with a hot billionaire and stuff. It's not even exciting to read about the synopsis anymore because I'm already tired of this type of books. Reading one series is enough for me.
I miss my paranormal books haha! I totally agree with you I'd prefer my guys to have fangs!

    1. I probably would've liked it more, but I got my fill of dysfunctional billionaires in 50. But I need more of my paranormal guys.
