This electrifying new trilogy blends the best of paranormal and dystopian storytelling in a world where the war is over. And the vampires won.
Humans huddle in their walled cities, supplying blood in exchange for safety. But not even that is guaranteed. Dawn has lost her entire family and now reluctantly serves as the delegate to Lord Valentine, the most powerful vampire for miles. It isn’t until she meets Victor, Valentine’s son, that she realizes not all vampires are monsters....
This books starts out as Dawn is learning her new position as delegate to Lord Valentine. The vampire ruler of Denver. She's living in a post apocalyptic world after a thirty year war between the humans and the vampires. The vampires won that war, by the way. So once the war was over the humans and vampires formed a treaty. There is a delegate from the humans that goes to meet with the vampire overload to discuss vamp/human relations and the fact that the humans have to donate blood to the vampires.
I absolutely loved this book. I read it in one sitting. I had to know everything that happened, immediately. Also, I have no self control where books are considered. I felt so bad for Dawn, she's only seventeen and is taking on this crazy important position as delegate, her parents just died not that long ago, and she has to deal with normal stuff like school too. Dawn also thinks that all vampires are evil, horrible creatures until she meets one up close and personal.
Another book this year that is absolutely amazing. I can't wait to read the next in the series. This is one of the best books I've read this year. Add it to your TBR pile, trust me.
