With Felipe de Castro, the Vampire King of Louisiana (and Arkansas and Nevada), in town, it’s the worst possible time for a body to show up in Eric Northman’s front yard—especially the body of a woman whose blood he just drank.

Now, it’s up to Sookie and Bill, the official Area Five investigator, to solve the murder. Sookie thinks that, at least this time, the dead girl’s fate has nothing to do with her. But she is wrong. She has an enemy, one far more devious than she would ever suspect, who’s out to make Sookie’s world come crashing down.

I have to admit that I was anxious to read this book. And anxious in a bad way not anxious in an excited way. After reading the last two books I was less than ready to read this next installment in the Sookie Stackhouse series. I was very under whelmed. I don't know why.

However I was pleasantly surprised by this book. It was a little hard to get into but once you start into it comes along at a nice pace. I really am not a fan of slow books, I need some progression. So I liked that there were things going on in this story. I know I'm being pretty vague but I don't want to give anything away for the people who haven't yet read this book.

Sookie is yet again, in over her head with all the supernaturals around her. It's not surprising but she seems like she's getting a better handle on things. She seems more level headed although there were times when she was exasperating. It's like the obvious decision is the one that she hems and haws about. JUST DO IT! You know it's the right thing to do, it's so obvious you can't even miss it. Ugh. Ticks me off so bad.

So the moral of the story is this book didn't suck. If you've read this series you need to pick this one up and read it. We get a lot of answers about some questionable things, we get a lot of really interesting developments, we get a lot of everything. The only thing that was lacking was super hot Eric sexy time. Good thing I have my memory to help with that. Either way, it was pretty good. If you want some answers, read it. SOME answers not all. And Charlaine left the book on a cliffhanger so book 13 has to be in the works.

  1. Really happy to hear you enjoyed this one!

    Have a great reading week!

  2. I'm glad this book didn't suck! I too haven't been overly keen to get to this one after being disappointed by the last couple of books. I'll be happy when this series is over, to be honest. Hopefully it returns to form.

  3. I am still unsure if I am going to keep reading the series. Maybe just the last book. I didn't read the one before this one either. But I am glad this one didn't suck for you.

  5. It was a DNF for me. I'm done don't really how it ends now.

  7. Sophie, I'm right there with you. I'm hoping that the last book in the series pays off. This was defintely better than the last few that have came out. I'm glad I'm not the only one who didn't think it was that bad.

  8. So sorry Sophia it looks like your comment got erased accidentally.

  9. I've been procrastinating on reading this one. The last one was alright. After reading your review...I'll probably read it here sometime soon. Sad to hear less Eric sexiness though ;)
