Violet kept her morbid ability to sense dead bodies a secret from everyone except her family and her childhood-best-friend-turned-boyfriend, Jay Heaton. That is until forensic psychologist Sara Priest discovered Violet's talent and invited her to use her gift to track down murderers. Now, as she works with an eclectic group of individuals—including mysterious and dangerously attractive Rafe—it's Violet's job to help those who have been murdered by bringing their killers to justice. When Violet discovers the body of a college girl killed by "the girlfriend collector" she is determined to solve the case. But now the serial killer is on the lookout for a new "relationship" and Violet may have caught his eye.
The Last Echo is probably my favorite book in the series. Violet is trying to deal with her "special" gift, fit in with her team, go to school, spend time with Jay, catch killers and stay sane. And if that wasn't enough she also manages to catch the eye of two creeps and now she might have to add keeping herself alive to her list of things to do.
Violet and her Team are trying to catch a killer they call "The Girlfriend Collector" Violet is getting more behind the scenes and instead of just being able to find the victims she is now getting a glimpse into who they were and its not so easy. We also get to know more about the members on her Team, and find out some of their secrets and talents.
I was determined not to like Rafe, I was scared there was going to be a love triangle, and well I love Jay. But somehow Rafe got to me and I totally love him. Now this doesn't mean there is a love triangle just that I got to know more about him. Jay is still awesomesauce!!!
Remember how the bad guy in The Body Finder was kinda creepy and it added that freaky vibe to the book, well The Last Echo has that and its like times a hundred. The bad guy in this book is a total whack job. I was almost afraid to read what was going through his mind, he totally gave me the creeps. Kimberly does a wonderful job giving us Violets POV and mixing in the whack job too.
The Last Echo had me glued to the pages. I had to know what was going to happen. Its just brilliantly written and the ending left me wanting even more. If you haven't started this series yet then please go check out The Body Finder and Desires of the Dead. These truly are unique books and you will not want to miss out on them.
