Some Danger With Your Romance?
By Mina Kahn

Oh yes! It’s an honor and great pleasure to represent my wonderful Kiss of Death chapter of RWA because I love suspense mixed in with my romance.
While I write paranormal romance where otherworldly creatures and dimensions are front and center, all my stories are really about romance – characters falling in love and finding their happy ending. However, I want my hero and heroine to earn that happy ending.
To up the challenge, I thread in suspense to my story and that adds danger, threat and a worthy and cunning villain. And what better way to showcase the paranormal abilities of my characters than throwing some murder and mayhem in their way, how better to prove my strong heroine than put her in real danger? All of this adds tension to the story, and that’s what keeps the reader reading.
So, to be technically correct, I should say I write Paranormal Erotic Romantic Suspense…but that would give my agent and editor heartburns, so I’ll stick with paranormal romance with an edge of suspense. Does it work?

Mina is one of the many talented authors who belong to the Romance Writers of America’s Kiss of Death chapter. At Kiss of Death we believe that every great romance should include suspense. Whether a spy thriller in Regency times, a paranormal romance with a revenge-seeking zombie, or a traditional serial killer after the heroine, romance relies on suspense, leading the reader through the trials of the heroine and hero to see if they will get their happily ever after ending. If you can call your writing suspenseful, then the Kiss of Death has something for you! Find out more and join at http://www.rwamysterysuspense.org and follow us on Twitter at @RWAKissofDeath.
Mina is a Texas-based writer and food enthusiast. She daydreams of hunky paranormal heroes, magic, mayhem and mischief and writes them down as stories. Between stories, she teaches culinary classes and writes for her local newspaper. Other than that, she's raising a family of two children, two cats, two dogs and a husband. She grew up in Bangladesh on stories of djinns, ghosts and monsters. These childhood fancies now color her fiction. 1. My favorite thing: It's a the fact that fear makes everything sexy it brings out lust, passion, urgency and feeling people might have liked to have kept hidden. ;) Absolutely LOVE romantic suspense. :)

  2. My favorite thing about romantic suspense is that the adrenaline is always flowing and the tensions run high... especially that sexual tension:) There's always a do or die situation and that plays out well with the do or don't have sex with the hot guy situation as well. I mean if had to face something where I thought I wouldn't live to see another day then I might be more inclined to take that risk and seduce the hot guy into a 1-night stand:)

The book sounds right up my alley and I would love to read it... thanks for the giveaway!

  3. I enjoy the emotional connection in romantic suspense. The characters coming together under extreme circumstances, learning to trust one another and work together to overcome the obstacles in their way. The hot and steamy parts for me should be just that, parts, and perhaps the icing on the cake that drives the relationship of the characters. Thank you for the thought provoking post and giveaway opportunity :)

  6. Favorite thing about romantic suspense? I like that these stories tend to be plot driven as much as relationship driven. I like puzzling out the what will happen next and who the bad guy is and why.

    Thanks for the giveaway opportunity.

  8. I think my favorite is how everything is ramped up-tensions, emotions, adrenaline. That 'edge of your seat' feeling as you live through the tense situations with them. Good read!

  9. My favorite thing about romantic suspense is the whole anxiety of knowing something is going to happen, but not knowing when or what it is. The books do just what they say, they keep a person in suspense wondering what's gonna happen next. Toss in the romance and it's just a great combo. The suspense is usually what brings the main characters closer together and I love it.

  10. I really like how engaging romantic suspense stories are. There is a lot of tension and action and as a reader I feel as though I'm right there. Instead of being an onlooker, I'm running for my life, chasing the bad guys and also there is the emotional aspect that enables me to feel for the characters.
