Deceived (Gwen Sparks #2)
Review by Amber I. and Amber R.
A war is brewing between the witches and vampires. Gwen is torn between what the witches council expects of her and her love for the enemy. She's also paired up with Death but this reaper doesn't wear a cloak or carry a scythe. He's a ruggedly handsome handful that's tasked with teaching Gwen everything about being a spirit walker. Ian is still taunting and terrorizing her but this time he takes it a step too far and Gwen's out for blood. Controlling an army of ghosts and dealing with three men at once is enough to make any girl go a little insane, right?
Wow, I love when a second book is even more better then the first, its not something I get to say often!! But Deceived was just that, I loved it!!!
This book we learn a lot more about Gwens power, and there is a lot to learn. Then in walks this sexy Angel of Death who had me saying screw Aiden and lets have some fun with Dorian.lol (man I am so loyal.) Don't worry Aiden fans he is still around and we get many many fun and sexy scenes with him, but by the end of the book I think you will all by on my side and want some more Dorian action. I mean he is just this big sexy package with a bow of mystery. I am totally having a swoon moment here.
Ian is still out there but now he gaining more power and making surprise visits to Gwens dreams and these are not nice visits at all. The witches are also starting a war with vampires for the brew, but they aren't just looking to kill those using brew they plan to kill everyone they can. We spend most of the book in Moon a town filled with witches where the the Witch Council is. We also get to meet some new people, some good and some not so good but you will not learn exactly who that is until the end.
I totally love this book. It was filled with action, mystery, swoon worthy men and lots of secrets are being discovered. Stephanie Nelson created an amazing world filled with witches and vampires and it is a definite must read for anyone who loves an awesome paranormal story. This series is now one of my top favorite witch books out there.
I wasn't really sure what to expect from this book but I can tell you that what happened was nothing like I thought. Gwen has reluctantly gone to Moon to help the witch counsel to come up with a plan to stop the vampires from drinking witches blood. When she gets there Holly, the head of the counsel in Moon, immediately puts her to training to build on her spirit walker skills. Holly is planning on declaring war against the vampires and Gwen is her secret weapon.
Gwen is still dating Aiden to the dismay of everyone in Moon and the counsel. They all think that he is just using Gwen and that he's going to drain her dry. The bond between Gwen and Ian is growing stronger. He's talking to her telepathically and visiting her in her dreams. And Dorian has came along. Dorian is training Gwen to use her spirit walker abilities. There is some obvious tension between the two of them. There is an attraction that neither one of them can deny.
Throughout this entire book there is something going on. We're never really sure of how this is going to end. The war between vampires and witches is on the horizon. Gwen is torn between her lover and her witch family. Gwen is also facing Ian knowing her thoughts and the witch counsels plans. Gwen is also facing this crazy connection with Dorian, a man she doesn't even like.
Stephanie Nelson has us going non-stop in this book. There are surprises and twists where they were never expected. Betrayal and heartbreak and mysteries lurk around almost every corner. This is an amazing story and I'm eagerly awaiting the next installment.
