AwesomeSauce Blogger Interview- The Cait Files

Today's AwesomeSauce Blogger Being Interviewed is Cait from The Cait Files

What do you love most about blogging?

What I love most is all the book recommendations! Before I started blogging my book-buying habits were getting a bit stale, I was only buying the next installment of a favourite series or books by an author I knew I liked. Blogging has inspired me to branch out a bit and I've read some fantastic books in the short time I've been blogging, and have even more lined up to read!

What are 3 of your favorite book covers?

Hard one! I think...Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater (the english cover tho, the black and white and red one?) It's just so simple yet so beautiful. I thin the Iron Witch cover too...I just love that. It's so dark and I love the intricate tattoos. Ermm and thirdly...I'm gonna go for the Die For Me cover by Amy Plum. I love it, cause it's kinda gothic but not too dark at the same time.
Argh, this was a hard question! I've never really been one for covers and most of the books I own I don't really like the covers of. It's only been really recently I think that books have been getting beautiful covers. It's a great idea though XD
The Iron Witch (The Iron Witch Series)Die for Me

If you could trade places with anyone in a book who would you choose?

I had to think about this one for a while. I think I would swap with Mary-Lynette from Night World book 2, because I've always been totally in love with her soulmate Ash since I was about...12. So yeah, I'd swap with her :P

You just won an amazon  Gift Card for 1 book and it had to be used within the next 5 min. what book would you buy?

I would buy Haven by Kristi Cook. This book looks incredible and I really want it, but I can't justify buying it when I have a huuuuge TBR pile!

What book are you most looking forward to this year?
Clockwork Prince (Infernal Devices)
I'm most looking forward to Clockwork Prince by Cassie Clare I think. I LOVED the first installment, Clockwork Angel, which I read before the MI series so I really really want to see what happens with Tessa and everyone! This is also partly because Cassie's website say's she'll be signing in the UK for this book release, and I've never been to a book signing before so this will be my first one! I WILL go, no matter what city she signs in!

If you could save 1 person from dying in a book who would you pick?

*SLIGHT SPOILER*
I don't even know if this character actually died, because despite owning Darkest Mercy I can't bring myself to read it, but if he does die, I'd save Irial. He suffered a 'fatal' wound in Radiant Shadows, so I can only suppose he is dead. But it's too heartbreaking, I can't read the book.

.If you had to choose a paranormal being to be what would you be? (like a vamp, were, fae, witch, demon etc anything like that)

Vampire definitely!! This required absolutely no thought on my part-I've wanted to be a vampire since I was about 10. Eternal youth, beauty, immortality, super-strength, mind influencing powers? Yep, all sounds great to me! where do I sign up?

If you were trapped on a Desert Island what five books would you take with you?

I'd take...Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, The White Darkness, Clockwork Angel, Saving Francesca, Nightworld volume 2 (featuring books 4, 5, 6) Okay, I guess this last one is cheating as I get three books, but it is a genuine book that you can buy, so it's allowed I think. Book 5 is my fave nightworld, books 4 and 6 aren't my favourites really (2 is my other fave) but why have one book when you can have three?

Top 3 Kick Ass Girls From a Book?

Rose Hathaway from Vampire Academy for sure. That girl is too Kick Ass for her own good. Then I think Dru from the Strange Angels series by Lili St.Crow and Jill Kismet, also by Lili St.Crow. That woman knows how to write Kick Ass females.

One couple you wanted together but did not end up together?

*SLIGHT SPOILER*
I really really want Damon and Elena to end up together in Vampire Diaries. But from the sounds of it, the publishers weren't too happy with that idea. so even though the books aren't finished yet, I doubt they'll end up together =/

And thanks so much Cait!! I totally enjoyed your answers!! And I love Elena and Damon together. Stefan is just too nice!  TOP THAT WITH AIMEE CARTER

The Goddess Test (Harlequin Teen)

Name 1 Reason to Read THE GODDESS TEST

Aimee- Because it has a little something for everyone, and if it sounds like your sort of thing, might as well give it a shot, yeah?

Amber- Because its a great YA book and it has a really unique story line you do not often see. You also don't get long over done explanations, we just get to jump right in some situations. She also adds a new twist to greek myth which was really fun and refreshing to me.

Name 2 of your Favorite Scenes in The Goddess Test
Aimee-1. In Chapter 13, the scene between Henry and Kate on Christmas.
2. Chapter 19
Amber- 1. I have to agree with Aimee, Chapter 13 the scene with Henry and Kate on Christmas.
2. I can't remember exactly the chapter but I think it was near Chapter 20. Where she is finally judged and all that was revealed in that meeting.

Name 3 of your favorite side characters in The Goddess Test
Aimee-
1. Ava
2. James
3. Ella
Amber-
1. Kate's Mom
2. Ava
3. Ella

Aimée Carter

From the author biography ~

Aimée Carter was born and raised in Michigan, where she currently resides. She started writing fan fiction at eleven, began her first original story four years later, and hasn’t stopped writing since. Her first novel for young adults, The Goddess Test, will be published by Harlequin Teen in May 2011. The sequel, Goddess Interrupted, will follow in February 2012.

I'm really not very interesting at all. I attended the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor and received a degree in Screen Arts and Cultures (a fancy way of saying I was forced to watch a lot of old movies) with a subconcentration in Screenwriting. I write. I watch a lot of new movies. Read a lot of books. Tweet too much. Love dogs and have two spoiled Papillons.

I'm represented by the magical Rosemary Stimola of Stimola Literary Studio, and on very rare occasions I blog over at WordPress. If you have any questions, feel free to ask!

The Goddess Test (Harlequin Teen)

Goddess Test #1 - Harlequin Teen - April 26, 2011

Every girl who has taken the test has failed.

Now it's Kate's turn.

It's always been just Kate and her mom--and now her mother is dying. Her last wish? To move back to her childhood home. So Kate's going to start at a new school with no friends, no other family and the fear her mother won't live past the fall.

Then she meets Henry. Dark. Tortured. And mesmerizing. He claims to be Hades, god of the Underworld--and if she accepts his bargain, he'll keep her mother alive while Kate tries to pass seven tests.

Kate is sure he's crazy--until she sees him bring a girl back from the dead. Now saving her mother seems crazily possible. If she succeeds, she'll become Henry's future bride, and a goddess.

If she fails...

Some of this and that about Aimee and/or Books

» Is The Goddess Test a retelling of the myth of Hades and Persephone?

While there are some similar elements between the myth of Hades and Persephone and The Goddess Test, the book is not a retelling of that myth. Instead, without giving too much away, it would be best classified as a modern-day sequel.

» Will there be a sequel to The Goddess Test?

There will be! The Goddess Test is the first in a trilogy, and the second book, Goddess Interrupted, will be released in late January 2012. The third book is currently untitled and will likely be released in late 2012.

The Vampire Relationship Guide

The Vampire Relationship Guide, Volume 1: Meeting and MatingThe Vampire Relationship Guide, Volume 1: Meeting and Mating

Review by Amber I and Amber R

 From Goodreads

Josie wants what she's never been able to have--sex with a vampire. When she receives an invitation to a party thrown by one of the world's richest vamps, she doesn't stop to question her luck; she just jumps into her favorite stilettos and heads out to the event of a lifetime, secretly hoping that she'll come home with a party favor in the shape of a sexy coffin dweller.

But the great undead, much to Josie's chagrin, aren't just pale sexbots with pointy teeth waiting to satisfy her carnal desires; they are dangerous--and sometimes cranky. With a single-minded focus on fulfilling her sole sexual longing, Josie unwittingly entrenches herself in the twisted and sometimes antagonistic world of vampire relationships with no one to guide her, but herself.

Amber I's thoughts:

I wasn't sure what to expect from this book but whatever it was it sure went way beyond it. It was awesome. I loved it.

Josie was smart, funny and totally sarcastic kinda girl that I love. She gets caught between 2 dreamy vampires and I was on board with either one.

I honestly couldn't put this book down. It was just extremely awesome. It was action packed, sexy, funny and filled with twists and turns!! There was some things I never seen coming!!

Great Great Book!! I can't wait to read more from this author!!!

Amber R's thoughts:

Okay so we all know I'm Amber I's book bitch. So I read this because she forced me. I couldn't be happier that I always read whatever she tells me. This book is awesome! I can't wait and I hope and pray that Evelyn Lafont writes some more books.

I love Josie. She is so funny and unapologetic. I love that she is independent and happy with her life. Josie doesn't succumb to the pressure of the "normal" life that her friend is always kind of trying to push on her. She stands up for herself and know what she wants from life. She's happy with what she has.

There are, of course, some hot scenes in this book. I wouldn't love it as much if there weren't. Lol. The two vampire guys are interested in Josie and they are steamy hot, let me tell you!

You're really going to get everything you want with this book. Some mystery, some romance, some hotness, some twists and turns, and you're going to laugh the whole way through.

This book rocks my socks!

Reader Behind the Author** Amy Plum

 Reader Behind the Author Presents

Story: Substance, Structure, Style and The Principles of ScreenwritingWhat is the last book you purchased?

Story by Robert McKee, a book on screenwriting. Another writer suggested it, saying that it had taught her a lot and I am always trying to learn more about my new craft.

What was the first book you remember reading and totally falling in love with?

Old Hasdrubal and the PiratesWhen I was a kid, my favorite book was Old Hasdrubal and the Pirates. (I wanted to be a pirate and have a mustache.) But the first book I remember reading on my own and loving was Charlotte's Web

Were you always a reader?

Yes - I learned to read when I was four. (My mom said I learned by watching Sesame Street.) And I've been a book addict ever since.

Do you have any books on pre order? If so would you like to share what they are?

Yes! I am waiting for Putting Makeup on Dead People by Jen Violi, which comes out May 24. My book friend Olivia recommended it, and she knows my taste!

If you could meet an author alive or dead who would you pick?

When the Heart Waits: Spiritual Direction for Life's Sacred Questions (Plus)I met Madeleine l'Engel before she died, which was a dream come true. I kind of idolize Neil Gaiman, so think I would be too intimidated to chat with him. But I would love to be seated next to Sue Monk Kidd or Barbara Kingsolver at a dinner party.

How many books do you think you read in a year?

Pre- Die For Me, I read at least two per week, so over a hundred per year. I've had to cut back with my writing schedule now, however, so in 2011 it will probably be more like fifty! (Although I've read three this week. Hmm.)
The History of Love
If your best friend asked you to recommend a book, what would you pick for them?

Off the top of my head: A History of Love by Nicole Krauss; The Book Thief by Markus Zusak or Stone Virgin by Barry Unsworth.

Short Answer Questions

Hard cover or paperback

Nowadays, hardcover. When I took subways/buses to work definitely paperback!

Book or some form of e reader

I don't yet own an e-reader. I'm sure I will someday, but haven't gotten around to it. But even when I do, I will still want my paper and ink!

Vampire or Shifter
Definitely shifter. Who wants to be in the same body for the rest of eternity?

Books stored on bookshelf or wherever there is room
My life-dream was to have a library in my house. And finally I do!

Some Info About Amy and/or her Books!

 Release Date May 10, 2011
Die for Me
Introducing a new supernatural mythology, DIE FOR ME presents Kate, a 16-year-old American who moves to Paris after her parents' death. She finds herself falling for Vincent, who she discovers is not the typical French teenager he appears. Love, mystery, & horror are combined in the city where dreams are sometimes the same as reality.

Wondering why the cover change?

"Well I got a note from my editor three weeks ago telling me that when the marketing people at Harper saw the British cover, they fell in love with it. And though everyone raved about the Kate-in-a-Boat cover, Kate-on-a-Roof seemed like a “bigger” cover to “people in positions of power”. So they got in touch with Little, Brown UK, got Atom’s jacket files, and tweaked them a little bit to create this…the NEW HarperTeen cover of DIE FOR ME:"

Promo For Overload

Tuesday, April 26, 2011

His planet is his prison…and only she can set him free.
After a year, Michael "Overlord" Parker finally knows who's been pilfering his black market goods. Astonishingly, the elusive Bandit of Taiga isn't a man. It's a woman, an infuriating spitfire who's half in love with Michael's overly romanticized reputation.
Remarkably Average Mary exudes an intoxicating scent that Michael can't quite puzzle out, even with his unique ability. As long as she remains bound and blindfolded, he has the advantage—and the bonus of tormenting the bane of his existence.
Mary's deceptively innocent face has never failed her. Yet somehow she's at the mercy of a man she knows only as "Commander". His demands are simple. Surrender her methods of banditry, or surrender her body. As his essence invades her intuitive ability—and her remaining senses—she becomes increasingly frantic to escape before she yields all that and more to her compelling captor.
Their sensual sparring ignites, and Michael finds himself wanting to erase Overlord's myth from her fantasies in favor of the real man. But first he has to foil the slippery little devil's escape attempts. And find out who's been using her to unknowingly help the empire wipe him off the face of his own planet.
Warning: This futuristic medieval contains a planet-owning alpha hero, a feisty heroine who can swear in over thirty languages, a side-kick with a crackleseed addiction, witty repartee, epic space battles, sensual karate, and tight black leather pants.

Excerpt

Commander stood and pulled her with him.
“Even at your very best, you could not fight me off if I were of a mind to have you, active bracelet or not.”
“You wouldn’t.” She looked up into his determined face.
“You know this for a fact because…” His wicked gaze held her captive even more than his hands on her arms.
“Because…” She trailed off when nothing came to mind. She couldn’t think of one reason to prevent him from doing whatever he pleased and, damn it all to hell, but the idea of being at his mercy excited her. Desperate to find a valid excuse, she remembered his promise not to steal from her. “You wouldn’t take me against my will since it’s a lot more of a power trip for you if I give in.”
His eyes lit up as if a flash grenade had gone off in his skull.
Bingo!
“And you say I’m transparent.” She laughed in his face until he pressed her against the wall of flexiglass with three long, pressing strides. Birds squawked away from the edge.
“A whole day without food, locked in your bathroom like a trembling coward, you emerge ready and willing to fight once again.” It sounded like a question, but the answer simmered in his knowing eyes.
She lowered her gaze. “I don’t want to fight with you.”
“I don’t want to fight with you, either.” He tilted her face up and held his mouth so close she could taste his breath.
Melting into his embrace, she longed to lift her lips the fraction he demanded for contact but vowed not to move. Even if desire killed her, she’d keep her lips to herself.

On the edge of freedom lies a dangerous love.
Nothing has ever come easy for Jace Lawless, captain of the salvage vessel Mutiny. Forced into thievery after a virus unleashed by the InnerWorld Government killed his family, only one ambition burns at the back of his mind. Kill the next IWOG officer he has at his mercy.
Bargaining over goods with a middleman isn't exactly his strong suit. But who in his right mind spends an entire salvage job's profits on a woman, even if she has a body built for sin and eyes so fathomless a man could lose himself in them? He must be getting soft.
Once Kraft realizes Jace expects only the "cook" part of their cook-whore contract, she sets out to change his antiquated ideas about women. A challenge she relishes, especially if it earns her the freedom and money to get her own ship. Her big mistake is letting down her guard.
Shameless flirting only intensifies the itch to ride Jace hard and put him away wet—several times. It's an itch it would be dangerous to scratch. Exposing her heart could reveal her secret, one that the still-grieving Jace must never know...showing her mercy will be the last thing on his mind.
