*Interview Time*

A lot of times in books the girl has to choose between 2 guys, is there a book where you totally did not agree with her choice. Tell us who, and why.
Okay, Twilight falls right into this category. I felt from the beginning that Bella picked the wrong guy. I’m definitely Team Jacob – he was a much better fit for her.

Where do you get your books from, buy them, library, or somewhere else?
I live on an island in Alaska and don’t get to leave it much. A chance to browse in a Barnes & Noble is rarer than a dwarf water buffalo. I enjoy a small selection of paperbacks from the supermarket magazine section but most of the time I use Amazon. And now that my kids got together and gave me a Kindle for my birthday this year, I’ve been downloading from Amazon almost exclusively. Caution:  it’s waaaaay too easy to download books to Kindle! My poor budget!

What is the last book you read that you totally fell in love with?
The planets must have aligned recently because I just put three (count ‘em, THREE) great books by my 3 fav authors on my keeper shelf. I was reading Patricia Briggs’ RIVER MARKED, JR Ward’s LOVER MINE and Karen Chance’s HUNT THE MOON, finished them all within a week of each other. Wow, wow and wow!

If you could meet an author alive or dead who would it be and what would you say?
I would say thank you to Stephen King for inspiring me to take my readers inside my characters’ heads. After I read one of his books, I know the character so well that it almost feels like everything in the book happened to ME!
I would also thank my fav authors, Karen Chance, JR Ward and Patricia Briggs, for inspiring me to keep improving as a writer and for demonstrating just how incredible a series can be.

If you could go on a girls night out with any 5 book characters who would you pick and why?
Frankly, I’d head out on the town with the gals from my own paranormal series. Birkie Peterson, the unflappable receptionist of the North Star Animal Hospital, has become one of my all-time favorite people. Her earthy good humor is a treat. Jessie Watson, purveyor of fine food by day and the wise alpha of the Changeling Pack by night, is someone I’d like to spend time with and learn from. Zoey and Jillian, heroines of Changeling Moon and Changeling Dream respectively, would be a lot of fun to hang out with. And Kenzie Macleod, heroine of my upcoming third book, Changeling Dawn, would round out the roster.

A book world you would love to live in?
You mean I’m not living in one now? I think I enjoy whatever book world I’m in at the moment, and it doesn’t matter if it’s been created by another author or if it’s one of my own --- the only criteria is that paranormal creatures must exist!

You have no new books at all to read and you really want to read, what book are you going to grab from your stash and do a reread?
Hmmmm, something from my keeper shelf…. I would read A HUNGER LIKE NO OTHER by Kresley Cole, and maybe one of my old favorites, the Three Sisters Island Trilogy by Nora Roberts (DANCE UPON THE AIR, HEAVEN AND EARTH and FACE THE FIRE) The three heroines are witches and it’s a wonderful paranormal read!

Is there a book you think is amazing, yet not a lot of other people do or it’s just not very popular.
DUMA KEY by Stephen King is more than a great ghost story. I really love the way the hero grows and develops as he struggles to overcome his injuries both physical and mental from a horrific accident.
GREYWALKER by Kat Richardson is a series now, but I will never forget my delight over the very first book a few years back. The heroine, PI Harper Blaine, can see and talk to ghosts.
SUNSHINE by Robin McKinley. Now there’s a story that easily rivals Sookie Stackhouse’s adventures (in my opinion). Always wished for a sequel – or two or three or six….

What is the first book you fell in love with?
At what age? I fell in love with books regularly from the time I was big enough to carry them around! And I still do. I have to make special mention of the book that started me reading – and eventually writing – paranormal romance: I stumbled on an anthology called After Twilight and in it was a short by Christine Feehan. “Dark Dream” literally BLEW MY SOCKS OFF. (You mean you can mix the supernatural with romance? Really? And the paranormal critters can be the heroes? Sign me up!) I’ve had a torrid love affair with PNR and Urban Fantasy ever since.

What book are you anxiously waiting to read?
I can hardly wait for the third installment of the Dorina Basarab series by Karen Chance. I was SO impressed with the first two books, Midnight’s Daughter and Death’s Mistress. Believe it or not, I like this series even better than Chance’s Cassie Palmer series!!!  And that’s the highest praise I can give!

If you could trade places for the day with any book character who would you pick?
I would love to wear Kenzie Macleod’s shoes for a day. She’s the shapeshifter heroine of Changeling Dawn, Book 3 in my PNR series which comes out in December. I would truly like to have the ability to run as a wolf whenever I want to – I admire the power and the freedom of such a form, and the ability to experience nature as a participant instead of an observer. And it sure wouldn’t be a hardship to hang out with Josh Talarkoteen!

You have to fight in an epic battle to save the world, what 5 characters are you picking?
Okay, you may think this is odd, but I’d be WAY more comfortable fighting alongside people I know – which means some of the characters from my current Changeling series.
First one on my roster would be Birkie Peterson. She looks like a harmless little old gal but looks are deceiving. I think my readers will be surprised by what she can really do – and believe me, she really takes off the gloves in my upcoming release, Changeling Dawn!
Second would be Jessie Watson, who is the Pack leader from my series. She is incredibly wise and a inspired strategist, plus she has a wellspring of serious magic in her arsenal.
Third would be Devlin Macleod. He’s  Culley’s twin and the serious one of the pair. He’s a brilliant physicist and his knowledge would be very handy in a crisis of global proportions.
Fourth would be James Macleod. As a human, he resembles a massive Viking warrior more than anything. As a white wolf, he’s probably the strongest of the Pack and certainly the most stealthy.
Fifth on my roster would be Connor Macleod, the hero of the first book, Changeling Moon. He’s a natural negotiator but don’t piss him off. He has a knack for assessing a situation and the muscle to take care of it when needed.

Where is your favorite reading spot?
When I was a kid, my summer reading spot was somewhere out in the woods, either under a tree or in it! Nowadays, I like reading out on my back porch overlooking the woods.

  4. I can't pick a favorite PNR series, I love so many. But one the I just read this year that I love is Larissa Ione's Demonica series. I would greatly suggest this to anyone who has not read it. And it leads straight into her new Lords of Deliverance series, with the Demonica characters still being secondary characters. LOVE that!

My ALLLLLLL-Time Favorite would be the Night Huntress series. Come on! Who wouldn't love Cat and Bones and the fact that their love is sooo strong that no one can come between them. Aside from that, I read it for Vlad and the epic fight scenes!

My other fav PNR Books/Series are:

    * The Fever Series by Karen Marie Moning (Even though I only read the first book, I know for sure I'll love it till the end!)
    * Anita Blake Series by Laurell K. Hamilton (The series is so freaking long but helll! It keeps you entertained!)
    * The Black Dagger Brotherhood Series by J. R. Ward (Seriously! 8 or was it 9 hot vamps in equally steamy books! Who doesn't love that?)

  13. Hi Dani. You are a new author for me and would love to win and read your book. I am also a Jacob fan.
My favorite book series would have to be a 3-way tie between: Laurell K Hamilton's Anita Blake series, Jeaniene Frost's Night Huntress series, and JR Ward's Black Dagger Brotherhood series. I just found BDB. I read the first 4 books in about a week. I could not put the books done. I love Cat & Bones-they are so hot together. And love Anita because I am envious of all of her men. Who would not want that many men wanting her.

  67. I am new to PNR and have only read the Twilight series. I am going to start reading this genre though as I LOVED the twilight books SO much!

It looks like I have a lot of catching up to do! So many of your followers have read so much, I feel so behind haha!

I can't wait to read more of your posts and reviews!

  72. Thanks so much for the awesome giveaway. I'm in the US.

My favorite PNR series is Shiloh Walker's The Hunters. She can't write new ones fast enough for me, so I keep re-reading the old ones.
