Today on AwesomeSauce we are super excited to have
Merit from Chloe Neill's Chicagoland Vampire Series
with us for a fun little interview!!
(I won't bore you with our fan girl moment of jumping up and down and all excited we got to do this interview. Nope I will just get on to the interview.)
*AwesomeSauce Interviewing Merit*
AS: In April the girls at AwesomeSauce are going to the RT Convention in Chicago, we want to know a MUST place we should eat at?
Merit: Wow, that's a lot of pressure--mostly because there are so many great choices! For pizza, I love Crust in my home turf of Wicker Park. Rosebud Trattoria has a fantastic vodka sauced-pasta, and you can't beat Lou Mitchell's for breakfast.
AS: Will you promise me you will not under any circumstance get intimately involved with Jonah?
Merit: *Blushing severely* I--wait--what? Jonah? Oh, no. Jonah is a friend, seriously. Just a friend. Anyway, it's too soon to even think about something like that...
AS: You and Mallory's lives both have taken crazy turns lately, if you had to choose between the path her life took or the path your life took what path would you rather take?
AS: Do you think you can ever forgive your father?
Merit: *Sarcastically* For which crime? Honestly, I think my father has tried always to do what's best. But he only considers the best outcome for him, without any regard to what would be best for others. It's that selfishness that hurts. If you're asking specifically about his offer to Ethan, well . . . If there's forgiveness to be found, it's not anytime soon.
AS: Before your turn you had many hopes and dreams, now that those are gone what are your new hopes and dreams for the future?
Merit: I guess to serve the House well. To make use of the fact that I'm immortal, and to not have regrets--because even immortals can be killed, as we now know too well.
AS: Tell us something no one else knows?
Merit: I keep having these freaky dreams about Ethan . . .
Clouds are brewing over Cadogan House, and recently turned vampire Merit can't tell if this is the darkness before the dawn or the calm before the storm. With the city itself in turmoil over paranormals and the state threatening to pass a paranormal registration act, times haven't been this precarious for vampires since they came out of the closet. If only they could lay low for a bit, and let the mortals calm down.
That's when the waters of Lake Michigan suddenly turn pitch black-and things really start getting ugly.
Chicago's mayor insists it's nothing to worry about, but Merit knows only the darkest magic could have woven a spell powerful enough to change the very fabric of nature. She'll have to turn to friends old and new to find out who's behind this, and stop them before it's too late for vampires and humans alike.

About Chloe Neill
Chloe Neill was born and raised in the South, but now makes her home in the Midwest–just close enough to Cadogan House and St. Sophia’s to keep an eye on things. When not transcribing Merit’s and Lily’s adventures, she bakes, works, and scours the Internet for good recipes and great graphic design. Chloe also maintains her sanity by spending time with her boys–her favorite landscape photographer/husband and their dogs, Baxter and Scout. (Both she and the photographer understand the dogs are in charge.) Chloe is represented by Lucienne Diver of The Knight Agency. Chloe is a member of the Science Fiction & Fantasy Writers of America.
