Today's AwesomeSauce Reader Interview is with Erin!
Erin doesn't have a blog but she loves to read!
Enjoy the interview.
A lot of times in books the girl has to choose between 2 guys, is there a book that you totally did not agree with her choice. Tell us who, and why.
The Hunger Games trilogy (by Suzanne Collins) bothered me for this exact reason. I didn't like the main character, Katniss', decision to end up with the good boy who she'd spoken to once before being shoved together in a ploy for cameras. The entire romance seemed forced, and it felt like the sort of train-wreck romances you see on shows like "The Bachelor" and its sister show, "The Bachelorette"-romances where people feel like they're supposed to fall in love, but a few months later the cameras are off and so is the wedding.
Amber: Oh we agree with this so much. We seriously disliked that Katniss chose Peeta.
What is the last book you read that you totally fell in love with?
I'm honestly not totally sure on this one. Usually it depends on the last book I read, because I'm the sort of person who falls in love with books in general. But really, I think the last book I really fell in love with was either Paranormalcy (by Kiersten White), or Pale Demon (Kim Harrison). I don't remember where I heard of either of them, but I was wandering through my public library. Those were the last two books that I literally couldn't put down, I had to finish it.
If you could meet an author alive or dead who would it be and what would you say?
Ok, I can't actually answer that with a single author.
Right now, Anne McCaffrey, Piers Anthony, or J.K. Rowling (because I am one of those crazy Harry Potter people). I'm addicted to Ms. McCaffrey's Pern, Acorna and Brainship novels, and Piers Anthony's Xanth and Bio of a Space Tyrant books. And I like to think that I'd coherently thank them for writing such amazing stories for so long, and have a polite conversation about how I credit their stories with interesting me in sci-fi in the first place...but honestly, I'd probably stammer, stutter, and then faint. And I don't even kid myself, I'd make a gibbering idiot out of myself if I met J.K. Rowling.
If you could go on a girls night out with any 5 book characters who would you pick and why?
Sandry, from Tamora Pierce's Circle of Magic books, because I just love the whole stitch witch thing. Also, I wouldn't feel quite as out of place-I'm pretty much the only 19 year old I know that actually *knits*.
Hypatia Cade from Anne McCaffrey's "The Ship who Searched", because she's always been my favorite character from the series. She's the most human of the brainships, her entire conflict has always fascinated me. Not to mention, meeting a woman who is essentially a cyborg, and is walking around by means of what amounts to a satellite linkup? Really, really neat.
Luna Lovegood from the Harry Potter series. She'd be just so much fun to hang out with. Also, magic tricks!
Nora Rose Rowley from Andrew Clements' "The Report Card". Yes, it's a book written mostly for kids. No, I don't care. She's smart and I like her scheme, and I like that she looks at being a librarian as living up to her potential.
Shana, from Mercedes Lackey's Elvenbane novels. Heck, she was brought up by dragons! How can you get better than that! She'd be awesome to hang out with, I can only imagine the stories she could come up with.
The first sex scene you ever read?
A scene between Tessa and Max, in a book called The Corset Diaries, by Katie MacAlister (at 19, I'm actually allowed to check her other books out from the library now). I was probably way too young to be even touching that kind of book, but it was lying on the floor in my front room (my house has always had a lot of books) and I wanted to read a book. I still have no idea whose book it actually was, because I've never had the guts to ask my mom, but it was pretty hot (especially to 12-year-old me).
If you could go to a strip club what 5 book characters would you love see taking off their clothes?
Max from the Maximum Ride books by James Patterson, Alanna from the Dragonriders of Pern series by Anne McCaffrey, Marina Roeswood from The Gates of Sleep by Mercedes Lackey, Joat from The Ship who Won by Anne McCaffrey & S.M. Stirling, and Katsa from Graceling by Kristin Cashore.
Most memorable sex scene you've read?
J.T. and Lucy in Don't Look Down (by Jennifer Crusie and Bob Mayer). I read that book easily four to five years ago...the fact that I can remember it at all speaks volumes.
If you are like me and also read YA books sometimes do you ever wish they would give you way more details during intimate moments, and if so what book or couple do you think of first?
Yes, definitely...my first thought is Ash, by Malinda Lo
You have to fight in an epic battle to save the world what 5 book characters are you picking to help you?
Alright then. Max and Fang from Maximum Ride, F'lar from Dragonriders of Pern, Hermione Granger from Harry Potter, and Katsa from Graceling. (I've got Max and Fang that can be either in the air or on the ground and do pretty much equally well, F'lar has a huge flaming dragon, Hermione has magic and Katsa is Graced with survival.)
Favorite Reading Spot?
Any small space. I'm pretty much the opposite of claustrophobic-I love small spaces.
A love triangle you just hated?
Katniss, Gale and Peeta. Why, oh why didn't she just figure out that Gale is perfect for her!!!????
Amber: Again, we totally feel your pain!
If you could change the events in any book what would you change?
Dobby's death. I cried. A lot. Of all the characters, that is one of the deaths I most hate. That or Hedwig. Both of them were so innocent!!!
This and That
Favorite Social Network? (Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr, etc.)
Facebook (no Twitter or anything)
Cat (I'm obligated to say that, my kitten is looking over my shoulder and she has sharp claws)
Favorite TV Show?
Right now? Take the Money and Run
Depends on the most recent movie I saw. Right now? Harry Potter 7 Part 2
