Reader Behind the Author Presents..
A lot of times in books the girl has to choose between 2 guys, is there a book that you totally did not agree with her choice. Tell us who, and why.
The Vampire Academy series often had me screaming at Rose to pick Adrian. I mean Dimitri is hotness incarnate, but let's face it...the guy has issues. Okay, Adrian has issues too, but he openly cared for Rose in a way that made me melt. I won't give any spoilers, and by the end of the series I found myself undecided about Rose's love life, but I often thought that her life would be so much better if she would settle down with Adrian. With no regrets.
What is the last book you read that you totally fell in love with?
I love, love, loved Demonglass, the second book in the Hex Hall series, by Rachel Hawkins.
If you could meet an author alive or dead who would it be and what would you say?
I had a major Edgar Allan Poe obsession when I was younger and his life ended in such mystery. After the death of his first wife to tuberculosis, he became engaged to a Ms. Shelton of Richmond. While making preparations for his wedding, Poe traveled to Baltimore to fetch Mrs. Clem the mother of his first wife Virginia. No one knows what befell Poe, but he was found sick, injured, and incoherent. He was taken to a hospital where he died four days later. He never regained the ability to speak of his experience.
Was he murdered? Plied with drink and used as a repeat voter for political elections? Witness to something unspeakable? Haunted by the ghost of his first wife?
If I could meet with Poe, I would have to ask, "What happened in the last days and hours before your death?"
If you could go on a girls night out with any 5 book characters who would you pick and why?
I would love to go on a girls night out with Isabelle Lightwood (The Mortal Instruments), Lucy (The Drake Chronicles), Sophie (Hex Hall series), Molly (Dresden Files), and Madison (Madison Avery series). These are all fun, quirky, intelligent characters.
A book world you would love to live in?
The BookWorld alternate reality created by Jasper Fforde in the Thursday Next series. This surreal world within the pages of books, and the literary detection branch of Special Ops that Thursday works for, is fabulously funny...and exciting. Plus, I've always wanted to communicate by footnoterphone. What is the first book(s) you fell in love with?
My first literary loves were the collected works of Edgar Allan Poe, Agatha Christie, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, and Lord Halifax's Ghost Stories. My TBR pile continues to reflect these childhood favorites.
A book that made you cry?
Linger by Maggie Stiefvater. I cried big, wet, unattractive tears...and I'd do it again in a heartbeat. The Wolves of Mercy Falls books are AMAZING.
What book are you anxiously waiting to read?
I am dying to read In the Forests of the Night, the second book in The Goblin Wars series by Kersten Hamilton. Admittedly, I managed to get my hands on an ARC, but haven't had a chance to read it yet. Tyger Tyger was fabulous and I can't wait to get my Finn fix.
What book are you currently reading?
Greywalker by Kat Richardson. I don't know why I waited so long to read this series.
If you could trade places for the day with any book character who would you pick?
I wouldn't mind trading places for the day, or night, with Cat from the Night Huntress series. Bones sounds oh so yummy. ;)
You have to fight in an epic battle to save the world, what 5 characters are you picking?
Rachel Morgan (The Hollows), Magnus (The Mortal Instruments), Locke Lamora (Gentleman Bastards), Joanne Baldwin (Weather Warden), and Harry Dresden (Dresden Files). Hmmm...this party needs a cleric, but I couldn't think of one.
