BBAW Interview Swap

Today I am participating in the
BBAW Interview Swap!
My Partner is Amy from

Now for the Interview!

You need a girls night out, what 5 girls from a book would you want to go out with and why?
Oh my goodness. 5 girls? Let's see....Eve and Claire from The Morganville Vampires series by Rachel Caine, Harley from Instant Temptation by Jill Shalvis, Katniss from The Hunger Games Trilogy by Suzanne Collins and Mac from the Shadowfever series KMM.

You have to fight in an epic battle to save the world who are you picking and why?
Save the world? Please don't leave that up to me! I am going to say Katniss from The Hunger Games. That girl can survive and stay strong! Plus she could hunt us down something to eat when we need it because I can't cook!

Since this is posting on Tuesday, share a teaser with us from your book you are currently reading?
Well, I can't really share a teaser for the current book I am reading because it is a The Vampire Academy Graphic Novel. But I will give you the caption on the page I am on.

Rose:
"Hey, Mason. Wipe the drool off your face. If you're gonna think about me naked, do it on your own time."

What are the top 3 books you've read this year?
Oh this is an easy one!
  • Divergent by Veronica Roth
  • The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins (yes I was a late reader on this series!)
  • Shadowfever by Karen Marie Moning

If you could have any supernatural power, what would it be and why?
To move things with my mind. How cool would that be? That way I could clean the house while reading a book. What? Books are always before chores!

If you could meet an author alive or dead, who would you pick and why?
I will have to say author M. Leighton. She is the nicest author! We chat all of the time, but I haven't ever met her. One of these days though I will take her to lunch if I can. She is truly the best person to chat with and I am honored to be able to chat with her as much as I do.

When you review a book what things do you try to bring to your review?
I have always said that my reviews are more like my feelings on a book. The reactions that the writing brings out. I don't like to do a lot of summarizing when I write a review and instead focus on the emotions a book can create. I will include a summary, usually from Goodreads, and then a My Thoughts section. It will tell the reader whether I loved or didn't like it with my reasons for it, how I felt reading it whether it be swoon worthy or teary eyed overload. I don't like to include any type of spoilers though so I try and make the reader of my review have a peaked interest in the book than a final decision of yay or nay.

In lots of books the girl has a choice between 2 guys, what book did you feel the girl picked the wrong guy?
You know, I never had this problem until recently. I thought at first that Kaylee from The Soul Screamer Series by Rachel Vincent made a big mistake with her love interest for the series. But, by the end of the series, the author gave me the ending I wanted. From the get go, I could feel who Kaylee needed to be with and I kept hoping it would come to be. Thank goodness she smarted up by the finale!

Is there anything you would like to include in this interview, if so name it and give us your answer?
To just do your own thing! The most important thing I can say to new bloggers is don't follow the pack! That may sound mean to some people, but I have learned that being your own person makes a huge difference.

What book that has not released yet are you most looking forward to reading?
Clockwork Prince by Cassandra Clare. I will make a confession though....I have only read City of Bones! I have never read any of the others! *GASP!!!* I know, so why did I pick it? Those gorgeous freaking covers!!! Plus I do plan on reading them all at once next month!

Thanks Amy for your awesome answers!

  2. I haven't read the fever books either a long time ago I started the first book and gave up. I was just not feeling the main character. Now I wish I would have stuck it out.

  3. I'm pretty sure...no, wait, I'm CERTAIN that Amy J just totally made my day:) I'm also certain that if we ever met for dinner or drinks, the establishment at which we met would likely never recover from the hilarity. Our coming together would, at the very least, realign the planets;) Woohoo! Girls night!

  4. Thank you so much for having me! I just love your blog and I am so excited to have found it through BBAW!

@Jet: The Fever series is so awesome! It just gets better with each book. Very dark and urban grit!

@Amber: The first book is the set up, so it does take a bit to get into. It really takes off though near the end and then you are hooked on the rest. Trust me! The last book leaves you with anticipation to read the series over and over again!

@Michelle: Awww...thank you! You know if we got together though, it would be endless reruns of Sam and Dean. We might have to go look for them in Hollywood so we can see them live and up close! ;)

  6. What a lovely sharing today. I have not read Divergent, Shadowfever, or Hunger Games, although they are on my wishlist and I recently bought Hunger Games. I just had to find out what it is all about:)

  7. @Linda: No kidding right? Chores can always wait or better yet---make the kiddo's do them! I always tell them they are my little house slaves! LOL

@Denise: *GASP* you have not read any of them? I admit, The Hunger Games took me a long time to break down and read. I couldn't believe all the hype and they didn't sound like books I would enjoy. Yet, after I got into the first book about halfway, I devoured all of them in one night. I paid for it the next day being tired, but so worth the lack of sleep!

  8. Loved the interview! As @Denise, I haven't read Divergent, Shadowfever and Hunger Games. They are now on my TBR List. In a month, I'll be on maternity leave with a new baby and a huge list of awesome books to read. Who can ask for more?
    Thanks!
    Kanya
