From Goodreads:

Legacy (Harlequin Teen)
I noticed his eyes. They were blue, sharp and intense. Despite the youthful glows of his suntanned face, his eyes were cold and unfriendly, suggesting he had great experience in the world and was now expecting the worst.

In her seventeenth year, Princess Alera of Hytanica faces one duty: to marry the man who will be king. But her father's choice of suitor fills her with despair.

When the palace guard captures and intruder—a boy her age with steel-blue eyes, hailing from her kingdom's greatest enemy—Alera is alarmed…and intrigued. But she could not have guessed that their clandestine meetings would unveil the dark legacy shadowing both their lands.

In this mystical world of court conspiracies and blood magic, loyalties will be tested. Courage won't be enough. And as the battle begins for everything Alera holds dear, love may be the downfall of a kingdom.

My Thoughts:
This is a book set back in the times that remind me of Arthur and the round table, very historical. This is a tale of Princess Alera. She is the oldest daughter of King Adrick and in line to take of the throne. Better yet, to marry a qualified guy so he can take over the throne because we all know women aren't qualified to do anything of importance. Lol, that time period really irks me because of that. I was definitely born in the right era.

Anyhow, sixteen years before the present period in this book, a neighboring country invaded and kidnapped 49 infant boys. 48 of them were killed and returned. The other child was never found and the country never gave any reason to why they did this. Either way since this happened the countries have been living in an uneasy peace that could be shattered at any moment because there was never a treaty of peace signed between the two countries.

Alera must choose a husband because her 18th birthday is coming up and protocal is that she also be married on her birthday. The only problem is that the only truly eligible suitor is Steldor. Steldor is in the military, he's a great fighter, and extremely good looking. The issues come in because he is also smug and pompus. That doesn't bode well for Alera. Although she is drawn to him because he is extremely charasmatic and charming.
Alera is feeling pressure from her father to choose Steldor even though she doesn't want too. There is no other pick in her father's eyes.

Then during a party an intruder infiltrates the castle garden and Alera finds them.
After that the book is non-stop. There is castle intrigue, spies, an unexpected person turns up, romance, twists and turns to the plot. The only thing I was upset about was the fact I didn't have the remaining two books. This was an excellent story and I can't read to read the rest.

  2. No problem. Its weird some of my giveaways go real well others get few responses. I don't know. I know the Hops get the biggest response. Most of the Reader Behind the Authors haven't been getting much response all summer.
