Times are hard for newly minted vampire Merit. Ever since shapeshifters announced their presence to the world, humans have been rallying against supernaturals--and they're camping outside of Cadogan House with protest signs that could turn to pitchforks at any moment. Inside its doors, things between Merit and her Master, green-eyed heartbreaker Ethan Sullivan are ... tense. But then the mayor of Chicago calls Merit and Ethan to a clandestine meeting and tells them about a violent vamp attack that has left three women missing. His message is simple: get your House in order. Or else.

Merit needs to get to the bottom of this crime, but it doesn't help that she can't tell who's on her side. So she secretly calls in a favor from someone who's tall, dark, and part of underground vamp group that may have some deep intel on the attack. Merit soon finds herself in the heady, dark heart of Chicago's supernatural society--a world full of vampires who seem too ready to fulfill the protesting human's worst fears, and a place where she'll learn that you can't be a vampire without getting a little blood on your hands..

 My Thoughts

Oh my god NOOOO!! NO NO NO NO NO NO NO!! I can not believe this. I am so mad. I have no idea how to write a review for this book. I am going crazy! How could Chloe Neill do this to me. Its just not right!! I was in tears. She must change this. I can not be okay with this at all!!!

I so would have gave this 5 stars but after that ending I just want to give Boo Stars!! It was a great book. I loved seeing Ethan bringing out his charm. He was so super sweet and I totally fell in love with him. Merit was still a bad ass and solving crimes and not listening to authority. The deal Ethan made with her was super sweet and he actually stuck to it.

Also I can not believe the nerve of her father! What an ass!! I started suspecting the person behind the V mid way through but the way it all played out was incredible it made all the puzzle pieces fit together so perfect.

But the ending. The ending was horrible. I just can't believe it. Please take it back!!! I don't know if I can go on if this is real....

If you have read this please talk to me about it. And if you haven't and there are comments there could be spoilers.

  1. LOL I swear I almost through this book across the room. I couldn't give it 5 stars, I went one rating down. I am totally hating the GP too. They suck. I'm curious at what will happen in the next book.

And you're not the only one. I cried like a baby. =DDDDDD

  2. I am so crazy depressed. This is so not right. She has to take it back, some how this has to not happen. I can not read this series if she does not make this right. Oh my god, I am so MAD!! This has to be the worst thing ever to happen in my book reading.

  3. I cried and cried and cried and I swear I couldn't pick up another book for at least a week. I was too depressed. I could barely even finish they book at what happen to Ethan.

Neill says trust me...okaiexz. I'll trust her for one more book. haha. Chapter 1 and part of 2 of the next book is up on Neill's website and it kinda looks like Ethan may be back. Merit is having these dreams about him or something.

She had one in HB too. So I hope. I hope Neill doesn't disappoint me =DDDDDD

  4. She has to bring him back, that is the only way for me to okay with it. And Merit can not get together with Jonah or any one else.

I just read the first chapter and the 2nd one and I am really hoping Ethan comes back. I am literally depressed from the book.
