Today on AwesomeSauce We are happy to have
Stacey and Stevie talking about their book Dark Magick.

About the Book:

Dark Magick - The Gatekeeper SeriesThe world has changed, we have changed. The world we once knew has fallen away and left us in a wasteland of Magick. Powerful witches and underworld gods control our lives. The past comes back in ways we are not prepared for. The Gatekeepers are our only hope. The question is if we can get to them first.

Stevie lives in Wyoming with her family. She loves the wide open space There is nothing better than sitting out on the prairie looking out at the stars, or driving less than an hour to the Mountains and climbing trees, and yes she still climbs trees! :)
Stevie started to write short stories when she was 12. She loves poetry and started to write poems when she was 13. She then stopped writing in her early 20s, due to raising a family and focusing her attention elsewhere. When she was 30 she started to write again.
A couple of years later the Gatekeeper series emerged. She and her co author spent many hours talking about and discussing the world they created. Stacey really encouraged Stevie to write again.
Currently Stevie is working on a historical romance about the old west in a time of amazing change! She is also working on the second book to the Gatekeeper Series.

How We Decided To Do This Book Together

Stevie: Our world is based on a possible reality of this world. It actually all started with a dream, and after talking about this dream, Stacey and I started to talk what about if this was really true! Then we talked about what a good book it would make!
So after deciding to write the book, we already knew what direction we wanted to take the book in so we decided on the main characters, and talked about the rest of the world and people just build up around these main characters! :)

Stacey: We just started putting it together. I pulled some of them in and Stevie did too. We knew who the main characters were, but the secondary ones kind of just started to introduce themselves. The world took longer to work out because it is complex and we wanted to make sure it was just right.

Stevie: Well our book is about keeping the magickal gateways open so it only seemed natural to write about witches, it would take a magical being to take out or control another magickal being, and of course our government would have the hand in the pot!LOL, so that brings in a little reality to that!

Stacey: It was something you didn't see everyday. I know Vampires are popular right now, but we wanted to do something a little different. The story just kind of took on a life of it's own and witches became a big part of that.

Stevie: I had no real interest in writing and getting published at all! Stacey was already getting published, and she really wanted to share this experience with me! It really turned out to be the best thing for me at the time! If your ever going to write a book with someone, it should be your best friend, but as I understand it, make sure your friendship is really solid!

Stacey: There was no other way to do it. This story needed to the duel perspective and this was the best way to do that. I think we both write so differently that anyone reading the book will understand these are separate people and that they think very differently.

Stevie: Well after we decided that we wanted to have magical beings, we looked at what realistic event would throw the world into chaos, that could open up the possibility of such things happening. We both questioned if basing it off the 2012 alignment was the best thing or not. There is already so much hype about it! We eventually decided to go with it, but while mentioning it, we tried to down play it, because the story isn't really about that, it is about the people and what they have to do!

Stacey: There is actually an alignment in the year 2016 that has our galaxy going through the Milky Way. I thought this was amazing, but the general public didn't really know about this alignment. They knew more about the 2012 thing and that was part of the reason with going with this time period.
