From Goodreads:

What's a girl to do when meeting The One means she's cursed to die a horrible death?
Life hasn't been easy on sixteen-year-old Emma Conner, so a new start in New York may be just the change she needs. But the posh Upper East Side prep school she has to attend? Not so much. Friendly faces are few and far between, except for one that she's irresistibly drawn to—Brendan Salinger, the guy with the rock-star good looks and the richest kid in school, who might just be her very own white knight.
But even when Brendan inexplicably turns cold, Emma can't stop staring. Ever since she laid eyes on him, strange things have been happening. Streetlamps go out wherever she walks, and Emma's been having the oddest dreams: visions of herself in past lives—visions that warn her to stay away from Brendan. Or else.

My Thoughts:

I really had no expectations for this book but it easily became one of my favorites. This was the first time I've ever read anything Cara has written but I'll be on the look out for more. I suggest you check her out too.

Emma is such a great character. You really feel for her because of all the awful things she's been through in such a short period of time. I think she's a very unsuspecting leading lady but soon you see her strength and determination shine as she faces some pretty harsh things in her life. I love the way that things progress between Emma and Brendan. Once things really start going you can see the way he truly feels about her and how protective over her he is. I honestly feel really bad for Emma. She's had this ridiculous few years and she moves to a new town. Now she's facing all of this danger because she finds her soul mate, plus she has to deal with the queen bitch at her school.

This book has a lot of danger, true love, witches, curses, sassiness, everything you could want in a book. At least according to me. I'd definitely recommend this book to all of my book friends. It's awesome.

  1. Thank you for sharing you review of this book. Something I always look for in a book is a main character I can like with strength of character, as well as the bonuses of danger, love, sassiness, and a taste of supernatural excitement.
