Silky by Lazette Gifford
ebook edition
review by Amber R

From Goodreads:

Captured as a child and sold into heartless slavery, life has robbed Silky of his magical abilities and left him with no expectations of a better life -- until his own act of bravery delivers him into the hands of a powerful Lord of the Land.

His troubles are far from over since Lord Reed is out of favor with the King and danger threatens at any mischance. Working with Lord Reed starts him along a path that will lead to power, danger and heartbreak -- and a future the young slave boy could never have imagined.

My Thoughts:

I honestly will have to give this book 4 out of 5 awesome sauce points. I was pleasantly surprised by the writing, characters, and story lines. The main character Silky, you feel so much empathy for him. He's the underdog throughout the entire book. It seems like whenever something good happens, something else bad happens to knock him down. I love seeing him finally get some confidence and standing up for himself.
I loved seeing these rich, society lords advocate for a foreigner and a slave. These guys really stand up for and help Silky a lot. I just love how these people you don't expect to help him, do. This is a really amazing book. There were times when I had the chills and times when I wanted to cry. I really liked this book and would recommend it to everyone.
