Save My Soul (Preternaturals Book 2)Save My Soul by Zoe Winters

All he’s asking for is her soul.

After buying the antebellum home she’s fantasized about since childhood, Anna Worthington discovers Luc, a dangerously seductive incubus who has been trapped in the house by a fifty-year-old curse. To rid herself of her problem house guest she’ll call on a priest, gypsies, ghost hunters, and the coven of witches from lust bunny hell. All she has to do is resist him long enough to break the spell so they can go their separate ways. If she doesn’t, she could die. And that would be the best case scenario.

Book 1 in this series is called: Blood Lust, and is a series of three novellas: Kept, Claimed, and Mated.

When reading your books reviews what are some things you really enjoy seeing? (other then the person obviously loving it)
Honestly, most of the time I try not to read reviews. (Not that I always succeed.) Reviews are really more for readers. The real danger with reading reviews is that it will make me too self-conscious to write and too approval-seeking. And the moment a writer starts thriving too much on approval and writing to everybody else’s expectations is the moment they aren’t artists anymore. They’re just making widgets.
I do read all fan email, though. And mainly I just like to know that they enjoyed the book, couldn’t put it down, and told all their friends about it. Because word-of-mouth is really what makes an author. Without the passion of the fans, your work is dead in the water.
What is one of your favorite scenes in Save My Soul?
I’m not sure I can tell that without spoiling the book. But it’s one of the flashback scenes with Luc.
And just so you know, the ending was WOW! I totally didn'’t see that one coming, is this the reaction you were aiming for?
The twist is funny because I first got the idea about a fourth of the way into writing the book. And I was like “No, that’s stupid. There is no way I’m writing that.” So I just went back to writing the book as I’d planned it. But as I went along, it was like my subconscious brain was scheming against me because there were all these little subtle hints working their way into the book. By the time I got to the ending, I knew I had to write it that way. I do like the twist now, though. I think it makes the whole story just work better on a lot of levels.
Out of all the books you have written do you have a favorite hero or heroine?
Well, my favorite hero isn’t written yet. Cain. You may know him as the villain from Save My Soul. Tam (also from SMS) will be his mate. Their book is after the one I’m working on right now. Though, I will say, I’m really falling for Z, the hero in my current WIP. He’s a panther therian and just... well, he’s so Z. And there is no other way to describe that. And I know that’s not descriptive to anybody but me at this point.
If you had to choose one of the harem to go out and have drinks with
who would you pick?
I probably wouldn’t go out anywhere with one of the harem. LOL. I don’t mean that in a mean way. I just wouldn’t be able to think of anything to say to any of them. Their lives are pretty different from mine. I would, however, go out for coffee with Bitsy and Mimi and their schizophrenic poodle.

Did you have to do a lot of research for this book with different religions(with having the church involved, gypsies, and witches) or did you just kinda let the story take you where it wanted?
Not a lot. I’d done much of the research a long time ago. Though it wasn’t really for a book. I just like to know things. Later, sometimes those things work their way into a novel. I did research the exorcism ritual for the Catholic church. And I did visit a Latin Mass. Henrietta Baker was inspired by a real person/experience. If you can believe it.

If you had to tell the world about Save My Soul in a tweet how would you do it?
There is nothing I can say in answer to this question that won’t end badly. I’ll look like a big dork, or stupid, or like a narcissist. So I’m just going to back away from that one slowly. lol

Is there anything you want to add about the series?
It’s going to get weird by book 5.

In this book we get a lot of side characters, the priest, Tam, the Harem, Cain, Jackson and so one, which were some of your favorites?
I liked Jackson, the other incubus. And Bitsy and Mimi, the old ladies. And Cain is my favorite character, period. I’m hoping in book 3, people start to understand why I’m so smitten. Book 3 is Z and Fiona’s book, but Cain is also largely featured. It acts as Cain’s “save the cat” book, basically so people can see he has layers. I didn’t really think he was all that evil in SMS. He was just trying to help Luc. He’s just bad at it.

How do you pick the names for you characters?
Twitter. Not always. But Z and Fiona were named by Twitter followers because I’m awful at coming up with names.
