Today's AwesomeSauce Reader Behind the Author is Jess C Scott
What is the last book you purchased?
What was the first book you remember reading and totally falling in love with?
Possibly an illustrated, abridged version of the legend of King Arthur. I've enjoyed the fantasy genre ever since.
The last book that I purchased ;) And Trapdoor, by Vixen Phillips (a talented author who writes dark, lyrical trance). I have a huge TBR pile...
If you could meet an author alive or dead who would you pick?
Edgar Allan Poe, Oscar Wilde, and Vladimir Nabokov. I'm pretty old school with my reading tastes -- and these three authors have inspired me in so many ways (I can't select just one!).
How many books do you think you read in a year?
Not too many. I like to take my time with reading. I tend to go for the quality over the quantity.
I love books by Vivian Vande Velde (YA Fantasy) and Roald Dahl (The Twits, Matilda). I enjoyed The Rules of Attraction by Bret Easton Ellis (Contemporary Fiction), Delta of Venus by Anais Nin (erotic fiction), and Bram Stoker's Dracula (paranormal fiction / classics). I write in a range of different genres, and my reading tastes reflect this (or is it the other way around?).
If you could save one person from dying in a book who would you pick?
Maybe someone from Anna Karenina (by Leo Tolstoy). It's a life-changing book (the entire human experience is explored in the story).
Favorite book couple?
Romeo and Juliet. I always get a kick out of reading Romeo's lines.
If your best friend asked you to recommend a book, what would you pick for them?
I think I'd recommend Dorothy Parker's poetry. There's a blend of introspection, wit, and accessibility in her work that I've always found refreshing.
Your bookshelf is on fire you can only save what you can carry what do you save?
The Collected Works of Edgar Allan Poe.
The Collected Works of Oscar Wilde.
And anything else my hands will allow me to grab!
