Reader Behind the Author Presents
Adrian Phoenix
Adrian: Chimera by Rob Thurman. Loved it! (Cried like a baby, but loved it.) But I totally love her Cal Leandros series as well.
What was the first book you remember reading and totally falling in love with?
Adrian: The Outsiders, by S.E. Hinton. I’ve read it several times. Also cried like a baby. (I sense a theme here. LOL.)Where you always a reader?
Adrian: Yup, from the time I learned to read. I remember starting school and staring at the words on the blackboard and feeling excited by the mystery they contained. I could NOT wait to learn how to read. What book are you currently reading?
If you could meet an author alive or dead who would you pick?
Adrian: John Keats. A brilliant poet, he died of consumption at 25 in Rome. What are some of your favorite books in the genre you write?
Adrian: Everything by Rob Thurman, but Nightlife and Roadkill are two of my favorites; Jeaniene Frost’s Night Huntress series, Kelley Armstrong’s Bitten; everything by Jeri Smith-Ready (YA and adult titles both); D.B. Reynolds’ Vampires in America series; Jennifer Estep’s Elemental Assassin series; Jeanne C. Stein’s Anna Strong series, Devon Monk, Phaedra Weldon, Jaye Wells, J.F. Lewis . . .Adrian: Nightlife by Rob Thurman.
If someone who was not a reader asked you to recommend a book to get the hooked
what would you pick?
Adrian: See directly above, plus—for something lighter, but no less entertaining—Wicked Game by Jeri Smith-Ready.Your bookshelf is on fire you can only save what you can carry what do you save?
Adrian: Gah!! All of them, but in reality, probably my 1880 edition of Paradise Lost.Short Answer Questions
Hard cover or paperback: Both.
Book or some form of e reader: Book.
Books stored on bookshelf or wherever there is room: Both, at this point. Need more bookshelves. LOL.
More About Adrian and/or her Books
You can read a chapter from the first book of The Maker’s Song series. Here’s a link to a sample chapter of A Rush of Wings.
With Book Four, Etched in Bone, Dante faces his destiny and searches for a way to accept it on his own terms. To make his life, his own, at long last, and with Heather at his side. The former FBI agent is more than his partner and lover, she is also his anchor, his beacon, guiding him back from the edge of madness when his shattered past rises up and swallows him. But in Heather’s human family awaits an unexpected enemy. One who could force Dante to choose his darkest destiny—as the Great Destroyer.
Here’s a link to the first two chapters of Etched in Bone.
Here’s a link for the first chapter of Black Dust Mambo—the first book in my Hoodoo series. The second book, Black Heart Loa will be released June 28th.
