Fire Burn and Cauldron Bubble: The Jolie Wilkins Series, Book 1Fire Burn and Cauldron Bubble (Jolie Wilkins #1)

by H.P. Mallory
Review by Amber I
From GoodReads

A self-deprecating witch with the unique ability to reanimate the dead. A dangerously handsome warlock torn between being her boss and her would-be lover. A six hundred year old English vampire with his own agenda; one that includes an appetite for witches. The Underworld in a state of chaos. Let the games begin.

Life isn’t bad for psychic Jolie Wilkins. True, she doesn’t have a love life to speak of, but she has a cute house in the suburbs of Los Angeles, a cat and a quirky best friend.

Enter Rand Balfour, a sinfully attractive warlock who insists she’s a witch and who just might turn her life upside down. Rand hires her to help him solve a mystery regarding the death of his client who also happens to be a ghost. Jolie not only uncovers the cause of the ghost’s demise but, in the process, she brings him back to life!

Word of Jolie’s incredible ability to bring back the dead spreads like wildfire, putting her at the top of the Underworld’s most wanted list. Consequently, she finds herself at the center of a custody battle between a villainous witch, a dangerous but oh-so-sexy vampire, and her warlock boss, Rand.

Amber I's Thoughts:

First let me say this cover is awesome. I don't know, but I love it. I love weird and fun covers. This one just oozes FUN to me.

The book brings you in the middle of a fun paranormal world. You get your witches, were, vamps and Fairys. Jolie is Fun and witty. It draws you in right away. And oh wow is there some sexual tension through this whole freaking book!! hahaha. I was like just DO IT already. Sorry but really I was.

It was just a fun, fast paced book. I really enjoyed all the characters. I can not wait to read the next one and PLEASE, let them get it on I have problems.

Amber R's Thoughts:
HP definitely gives us a book worth reading. I've read both the Dulcie and Jolie series, HP doesn't disappoint.

Jolie is a so-so psychic, running a shop in California, living a boring, easy life with her best friend Christa.

Her life changes forever when Rand Balfour walks into her shop. Rand is a warlock who needs Jolie's help. Jolie is skeptical that Rand could use her help because in her mind she is way below average in her psychic skills. Fortunately for Rand, Jolie isn't only a psychic but a witch also. Rand and Jolie are both in for a shock. Jolie is actually an extremely powerful witch. She has some powers that no one has ever heard of.

Because of Jolie's powers, she's a hot commodity and everyone wants a piece. Including Bella, a witch with an agenda all her own and not a good one. Bella has a plot to make Jolie work for her and have Jolie's power on her side. Bella's plot doesn't quite work out the way she planned. Somewhere in the mix, Jolie ends up living in England with Rand.

This book has everything that I love; paranormals, hot guys, drama, good guys and bad guys, wittiness, and all kinds of other fun stuff. If you haven't checked out HP's books yet then you are definitely missing out. Trust me, you should read them all.
