Today's Awesome Blogger being Interviewed is Amanda from Novel Addiction

Hello there! My name is Amanda, I'm a 23 year old Reference Librarian at my local public library, a book reviewer (both on my own and for Romance Reviews Today), and a general nut. I read anything and everything, my top genres being romance (of almost any sort, preferably paranormal) and Young Adult (again, almost any kind).  Please, feel free to stop by my blog Novel Addiction and say hi, and stick around for a while! I have a couple contests coming up in March - my right hand sidebar will be updated with dates and details as soon as everything is hammered out. So now that I've talked your ear off, to the interview!

1. Why do you blog?
I started blogging so I would have a place to keep all my reviews, and to connect with other readers. I go absolutely nuts when I read a book I love, and have no one to talk about it with. So I started posting reviews, and despite how much hard work it is sometimes (and it totally can be) I absolutely love it.

2. If you had to promote your blog in a tweet (140 characters or less) what would you say?
"Bookish nerd pretends to review books, but mostly blabbers in excitement."  Ha, just kidding. "Honest with a dash of snark, Novel Addiction reviews books of all sorts, YA to SciFi (+ more). Stop by to chat with a true book addict."

3. If you could live in one of your favorite "book worlds" what one would you pick?
Ah! The Night Huntress world, definitely - from Jeaniene Frost's Night Huntress series. Any world that has Bones, Spade, Vlad, Ian, and Mencheres.. is the place I wanna be.

4. If you could switch places with one character from a book, who would it be and why?
It's a toss up between Anita Blake and Cat from the Night Huntress World books. Anita complains a bunch, but I would love to have her life for a little while - or at least have her men..  And Cat, she's rough and tough and has a hard life, but I'd definitely take that on. Or.. maybe just her hubby, Bones. The next Night Huntress book comes out the 22nd of February, can you tell I'm a little obsessively excited?

5. You're in a bookstore, what section do you go to first?
Well, if I'm just there to browse, and not on a mission, it's usually the romance section. Or if I'm at Borders, I go to the Young Adult section first, but mostly because that's closer to the door than the romance section.

6. How did you come up with your blog name?
Well, I read so much, and so many different types, I wanted a blog name that would encompass everything. I didn't want to be limited to a certain type. And after coming home with a box of books from a used book sale and going on and on about how excited I was about every single one of them, it was mentioned that I was obviously addicted. So.. Novel Addiction. But since there used to be a blog just called Novel Addiction, and it was never really closed.. I had to make my web address Glows Novel Addiction, after my web pseudonym, Morning Glow.

7. Were you always a reader, if so/not, when did you start?
So, I don't really remember Kindergarten, but apparently I was the head of my class when it came to reading. Then the summer between kindergarten and first grade, my Grandma broke her leg, and I spent the entire summer with her, helping her out, and didn't read at all. When I returned to school for first grade, I was behind everyone, so I got sent to a special reading class once a week, and while I don't remember my teacher's name, I will always remember how grateful I am that she helped me fall in love with books. I even still have the book we used to practice reading.. sentimental value, and all.

8. If you could get your hands on any ARC this year, what would it be?
Ooooh. Let's see... definitely any of the books Katie MacAlister is putting out this year, or Sherrilyn Kenyon, or Lynsay Sands. I was also super duper eager to get my hands on Colleen Gleason's new historical vampire romances, starting with "The Vampire Voss." Lucky for me, I got assigned this book to review for Romance Reviews Today, and I have my ARC sitting beside me on the couch. Woot!

9. If someone who was not a reader asked you to suggest a book, what would you suggest to get them hooked on reading? (Pick 3 if they are different types, or just 1 in general.)
For Young Adult - "The Hunger Games," definitely. For Romance, Katie MacAlister's "Men in Kilts." For Urban Fantasy/ Paranormal Romance .. the Night Huntress series by Jeaniene Frost.

10. How did you like this interview?

  1. Hey Great interview!
Amanda can I ask you why the one for romance... I love a good one and now you have my interest in it :)

  2. Hellp Mflick1! Are you asking about "Men in Kilts" by Katie MacAlister, mentioned in my recommendation answer? It's a GREAT contemporary romance, about a mystery author that goes to a conference in England, only to meet up with a real, live, dishy Scot. Katie MacAlister is amazing at melding humor and romance in her books, and it's actually my favorite romance of all time!

Come visit me at my blog, I could talk about books all day!
    ~ Amanda

  3. "Bookish nerd pretends to review books, but mostly blabbers in excitement."

I love this!lol I think its a great way to describe.
